im in two minds with babel, probably he recieved too much attention when he was young and not shielded by his manager and handlers- on the other hand has had a really poor 4 or 5 years. Willing to give anybody a second chance but mot at the silly fee that has been mentioned

Trotter is a CM, Babel is a winger, we could accomodate both. Not sure I'd want Babel, lots of players are dicks, but some of them are particularly disruptive and aren't worth the hassle.

Looking at teams like Norwich and Swansea they changed very little last season after getting promoted so I think it could work by bringing in players like Trippier and Trotter, simply to add competition.

I just feel for a CB (at least) we need a rock. Not a Scott Dann who has been relegated twice in two years...

To dismiss a signing because his side were relegated is bizarre. Lallana, Schneiderlin and Davis were relegated to League One with Saints, Scott Parker was relegated to the Championship with West Ham etc etc. That doesn't mean I think we should sign Scott Dann, but that you should judge a player on his own merits and not on the success/failure of his team.

Scott Dann is English... ;)

Seriously though I agree with MLG above me. To judge him on that alone is almost (not really, but you know) as bad as you slagging off Trippier because you hadn't heard of him.

Our success has been built on squad morale. Nothing is more important and if a player is going to disrupt that then they have to be world class which Babbel isn't. Also the fee is huge for a player who hasn't performed for a long period.

I suppose it's a fair point. Maybe he can blend in with our players quite nicely. <ok>

You're an idiot. You really are.

Kind of agree on this point. Don't judge a player on what his team wins or does. Le Tissier never won anything with Saints, does that mean he is little more than a run of the mill player?

As mentioned, people like Traore and many more have winners medals or something of the like. I'm not championing Dann I just think it's a foolish judgement.

Just because someone has a relegation or two on their CV does not make them poor. Adkins has been relegated and he isn't bad as a manager. Granted he also has a few promotions.

So here is the killer question RLGB, should we stay British with Dann, or go foreign, god forbid?

I'm happy to let Nigel and the club decide.

I will back whoever we sign, but until then, everyone is entitled to various opinions.

I'm already slightly swayed by yours an others counter argument for Danns and do feel I may have been to hasty.

Whoever we sign I will back fully!

In terms of English based players - Curtis Davies >> Zak Whitbread >>>>>>>>> Scott Dann

Oh and I don't know why people continue to respond to AdamBanana's obvious trolls, or even if he is actually being serious why people choose to continually respond to someone who clearly has no clue about football.
