A lot of supporters on here and on various media platforms seem to be very in the know about who won't be and who will be coming to Gills as the next manager...Scally has done well, played his cards close to his chest and kept us guessing. Good for him, however Steve Bruce or Mick McCarthy?! It appears to have sent some people delirious.
You would get some loyalty with this manager. If the likes of Lee Clark was appointed, the first opportunity to manage at a higher level and he would be gone. I expect the same of Keith Millen having managed in the championship.
Not sure if that is a bad thing. The set up at Gillingham is still one of a 'small' club. If the next manager gets us promoted next season, I would expect him to attract 'higher' attention. Scally would then have to match the ambition that the manager may have with certain assurances of the ambition of the Club- and that's when our set-up will hamper our chances of retaining decent managers/ players. We can only take one step at a time - Get into L 1 and progress from there. I don't think that any real long term all round improvements can be made until we return to the Championship. Until then, any form of small success in our staff will have money waved at it. edit... other peoples money !
I would not have thought Keith Millen will be highly wanted, I would not be excited if he was named our manager as he didn't do great at Bristol City.
Any manager will walk if a "better offer" comes in from a "bigger club". Recent examples are Lambert going from Norwich to Villa and then Houghton from Birmingham to Norwich. To think that any manager would say no to a championship club if they did well at Gillingham and would prefer to stay at the Gills is quite frankly insane. And I'm pretty sure many people would do exactly the same in whatever line of work that they are in should an opportunity arise to better yourself.
Now I am starting to get worried. For the length of time that Lenny has been on this board he always has been a bit of a controversial fella but never known him to speculate! Now if Tilson is not made the next manager his reputation will be in tatters either that or I can feel a Scally rant coming on Bookies take note
Ive just come back from holiday from Turkey brb with a manager in the same league as Lincoln, he's pretty convinced Tilson will get the job. I can say no more.
Why is it strange behaviour? I'm just telling you what a good source has told me. He maybe wrong but hes probably got more insight than you or me.
it's all guess work hoadie, i wouldn't believe what you read or hear at this moment in time...most are on the wind up !
I always believe with people's stated 'source' you can either take it or leave it. I have a simple view on these sort of situations. There is stuff we as individuals may find out through sources related to our personal lives. Who are we to judge these people as long as they are not committing libel. If Lenny has a source fair enough to him, however, if Lenny's source turns out to be wrong, I predict a hasty retreat via Lenny and a change of user name (only joking Lenny). Come on let us be honest, it is no worse than all the people that failed to carry out simple basic checks on Frank Nouble's fake twitter account.
i most admit brb, i was taken in by the frank nouble goings on, which has convinced me more than ever not to believe whats said till we see the breaking news and pictures of scally shaking whoever's hand !
Quite right. You can travel the world over for sources but there is only ONE person on this planet that can decide who our next manager is going to be and he is remaining as tight lipped as ever.
