Still think he should of tried to tempt Scholes out of retirement- 37 and still the best CM England have.

Predictable and slow, but there is talent. We can get to the semis if we avoid Spain. France have great players, but they're even worse than us at getting them to play together. Sweden always seem to trouble us, but we can probably edge past them, and Ukraine are ****e. I wouldn't fancy our chances against Holland, Germany or Spain, but the rest we can beat.

They aren't great, but they're at home and that'll give them a slight advantage i should think - they'll pose a threat for sure

Michael Carrick must rue being such a dick. One, potentially two, midfielders out of the tournament now....

Same with Micah Richards at one stage (when Johnson was injured, and Jones looked liable)

Because he didn't want to be put on the Reserve List when the squad was announced, same with Carrick - both who subsequently had a chance of being called up who couldn't

Not what i heard, i heard he wasn't put on there by Roy. Even on twitter Micah was saying how gutted he was, but was wishing good luck to the team.

Think it was Carrick that acted like a prick, plus Foster basically retired to. Saying he did it for football reasons.

I can understand a goalkeeper doing it, as they are less likely to play, especially as they are less prone to injuries so I can see where he's coming from, however Carrick has been a prick yes

If he did that though, he'll have been criticsed for going backwards - he can't win!

I agree that Scholesy should have been called up. I think we have already taken a backward step with the squad anyway due to injuries. Our Woy has been forced to call up the players he has, and will have to make do with it due to the amount of time he has had in the job. No one will be able to slate him for any performance at the Euros, and after that he can start to mould his own team and bring in some youth and the players that he wants.

Carrick and Richards should of both been in the squad anyway, shocking decision to take neither.

Agree wrt Richards but as discussed above, Carrick had already said he didn't want to be considered. Not just for the reserve list, he actually said he didn't want to go unless he was going to be in the starting line-up. In my view a player has absolutely no right to make that kind of ultimatum.

Yeah, he said he didn't want to go if he was on the fringes. Which is a bad attitude imo - he sometimes appears to be on the fringes at Man Utd., but cos he collects a wage, he's OK with it, I'm sure. Why take a player who doesn't have the hunger to get involved unless he's guaranteed a place - I hate player power.

Saying that, would love as an experiement to see a club go for a player power model - drop the manager, and get a load of players in who like whinging about being a guaranteed starter, and see where they finish in the league.

Would like to have seen Richards in the squad. But I'm of the opinion that there must be something with him that we don't know - two England managers have now completely overlooked him, plus Mancini was saying bad things about him earlier this season, about his attitude etc. Maybe he's got bad habits?

Think they just don't rate his defensive ability to be honest.

Yeah 100% agree that no player should be issuing that sort of ultimatum, but I can see where his frustrations coming from, ability wise he should be in our starting 11, and he has had a great season for United as well, an English midfielder who can actually keep the ball! Has definitely gone about it the wrong way about it though.

    Glen Johnson ? <whistle>

I can't imagine Beckham refusing to be considered, can you? He had the right attitude to England...an honour.
