Martin O'Neill has made enquiries about Grant Holt, Norwich City have rejected any approach, (Everton & Aston Villa are also rumoured to be interested), Holt has since handed in a transfer request...

...he's better than Emile Heskey I suppose? <cool>

I would feel sorry for Holt if he went there.

He'd be asked to basically be a Shola type player.

Holt obviously wants more... I personally think he's a bit deluded. He's in a club that finished joint with 10th place on its first year up. He thinks he's better than that?

He's a good striker, but at any club higher than the top 9 he'd be cover, simple as. At Norwich he's at a club that's being run well, has potential and he's getting first team football. He should be grateful.

And what's wrong with being a mackem slayer type player?

Decent player but whoever gets will end up paying over the odds. He is 31 and they'll expect 5m plus. No sell on value, just throwing dead money. I suppose it depends how desperate you are for a striker but for that sort of money you got Shane Long last season. He got something like 8 in 24, offers pace and is still improving. I'm sure Sunderland could pick up a much better option on the continent.

Cant see why he would leave Norwich foir Sunderland ! why leave a big club for a smaller one?

This mirrors my own thoughts.
