A few people are going with the old cliche "never go back". Why not though ? I don't see a problem. Is it superstition or something ?

I refer to any managers of quality. How man quality managers are out of work at the moment ? Not many i would suggest.
One thing about Mad Mick. As he was Paid Up in Full by Wolverhampton he may come a bit cheaper and thats a massive may. But sadly i feel the Wigan job will appeal far to much to Mad Mick IF it becomes available.
Very true but he has not had the talent to work with before now that he would have at Hull City. Time he had some success may i suggest.
He almost got Rotherham into the play-off's, despite them having a 17 point deduction, I'd say that was fairly impressive.
At Barnsley, he resigned because they slashed the wage budget, gave him no money to spend and to add insult to injury, at the same meeting they gave him twelve months notice.
God how depressing is it when brown looks the best realistic option. I was glad to see him go before and thought it should have been sooner and if he does get the job this will be the first season since 89 that i wont be having a pass.
Not after the way Steve Bruce left Wigan last time. Whelan was not happy. That ship has sunk. Whelan and McCarthy would be a good mix.
I also think that OGS may fancy Wigan more than Villa. A better owner and could take a few Man Utd players with him. Michael Owen would do a good job for Wigan as a free transfer for example.

Getting us promoted while we plunged into debt something the allams wont let happen again, do you think he could do it again within the budget constraints placed on him? I dont. He turned into a media whore while he was here and as soon as there was a sniff of the job he was touting himself all over the media again.
So thanks for your input but he isnt the right man in my mind.

I don't think anyone could get us up if the budget is going to be as small as some believe. Oh well maybe Nick Barmby !
Why cannot people state the truth about Phil Brown and what he did with Hull City AFC.
Nobody can deny, surely, his achievement in getting us into the Premiership. How many teams successfully cement themselves into the Prem when they have no recent history of being there? Was he not always likely to fail to keep us there? Would anyone have kept us in the Premiership that year given what had gone on behind the scenes in the boardroom?
I cannot comprehend why people have such bile and bitterness to throw at Phil Brown, it defies belief.

Because many people can remember what a nightmare much of the second half of his tenure was.
The first half was great, we throw some cash at promotion, brought in the likes of Jay Jay, Pedersen, Campbell and Deano and having gained promotion we strengthened with Geo, Cousin, King, Boateng etc, but the minute things started going wrong, they went disastrously wrong. Good players were dropped because the manager had fallen out with them, there were ridiculous team selections and even more ridiculous substitutions.
I remember the good times with affection and the bad times with equal disaffection, he may be the most successful manager in our history, but he comes with a lot of baggage.
OMG....Its only when you sit back and look at that list for a few minutes that you now realise just how much Hull City are now in the brown stuff. As if any of them are better than Nick Barmby would have been for us. Mad Mick and Mouthy Billy have the experience but not the footballing brain of Barmby. Sean O'Driscoll is now the manager of Crawley Town and OGS looks Villa bound.
FFS, Can the Allams and Barmby take 2 steps back and think of the bigger picture which is the well being of Hull City AFC and not simply there egos. Its never to late to make up is it for the good of one and all.
I cant help but feel that Swansea fans would be saying almost exactly the same after they appointed an abject Reading failure.
You only have to look at the threads on this board regarding Liverpool fans and dalglish and the **** they get for there loyalty to him, different attitudes to achievers and legends sadly, ash gets the same **** for not dancing a jig after we beat his new side 1-0
I don't really think that's an accurate comparison, a top player who goes on to be manager, would be more accurately compared to Barmby's situation and there I don't think the reaction of City fans has been much different to that of Liverpool fans.
As for Ash, he got a bit of grief immediately after that game, but it didn't continue and I think you'll be hard pushed to find any City fan who doesn't regard him as a legend.
I agree with what your saying, but I also think you'd be hard pushed to find any other club get in the top flight for the 1st time in 104 years, and have fans saying they wouldn't get a season pass if he returned despite what happened after, I dont expect it all to be forgotten, and for everyone to get him back but the level of stick he gets from some quarters baffles me
He remains a bit of a Marmite man, his appointment would divide fans, half would be overjoyed, half would be gutted.
Most of the gutted half would still buy a pass though.
