I agree about keeping hold of Drury for another season, he'll be 34 next year and I reckon good for another 10 or so games when we need him. Talking about ages, if we start next season with a pair of 22 year olds - regardless of how good they are - as a first choice CB partnership then I'd be seriously concerned.
I think another centreback will come in, I hope so too. If another one didn't come in than Martin and Ayala would be my first choice at centreback.
I think we'll get at least one more in, an older head maybe, but I think it's great for the future that we have two center backs like Ayala and Bennett. If we give them a chance maybe they'll shine regardless of age?
Bit gutted about Whitbread going perhaps it's something to deal with his injuries? I totally agree with people saying Ward should go I think he his dreadful at this level, at least Whitbread could cut it at Premiership level. Wilbraham was a tryer but his not the greatest forward I think his just another big forward would rather have someone else.
Changing tact here, what about our strike force ? Holty's getting a bit long in the tooth now and just like this season he's not going to start every game and what if he get's injured or suspended ? Morison ? Well let's not argue about him, I really think the bulk of our war chest should be spent on a quality front man a la Rodrigez or Rhodes, what does everyone else think ?
Ward hasn't left as his contract doesn't expire this summer. The only way he will leave is of he is sold.
I want Rhodes, he's quality but Holty isn't going to dry up anytime soon I feel. He's hitting his prime
I think Ward gets a bit of a rough deal from City fans, the times he looks bad are when he's pulled out wide because there is no one back. When the ball is the middle he's a pretty good defender and doesn't look out of place, out wide and isolated in space though he just gets done everytime.
I think some one we need to stick a bid in for is Tom Ince from Blackpool, quality player, if West Ham win the playoffs teams will be queing up for that lad.
Problem is part of the way we play is having fullbacks who can bomb forward and help out with attacks, I think if Ward doesn't fit into it well than we need a back up who can, if we were to keep him I think we will be able to play him in games away at Old Trafford where we play counter. I also think Russell Martin is probably my second choice centre back behind Ayala now, and it's probably why he is doing so well there because he has experience of dealing with player out wide and has good defensive positioning as well reading and anticipating the game..
absolutely, Rhodes has all of the atributes to be "the next Holt" I think big, tall, great movement. Not sure of his off the field but he looks built for NCFC 2.0
As much as I think Rhodes can do a job, I would rather we got Rodriguez. Think Rodriguez is an all rounder with fantastic potential, at great when he has ball at his feet and shown strength when he scored against us last year.
Don't get me wrong, I rate him too. I've heard the fee would be very high though. Burnley don't need to sell. Mind you neither do hudders, dammit.
Suppose it depends on the transfer fees but I imagine they will be around similar figure, plus I think Rhodes would want more wages.
I don't think we'll get Rhodes or Rodriguez, sorry, wages will be just too high for us, unless the wage cap has been raised?
Imagine Rhodes in a City shirt pulling up trees in the Prem, and to think Royston showed him the door at 1p5wich, pleeeeeease let it happen
