That about sums it up - although for the life of me I can't remember ever having to play against Liverpool AND the officials. If it hadn't been for the likes of Webb, Clattenburg etc then there wouldn't be a bad record to have to explain....
of course, i used to play for the same Sunday league as him, although it was afew years later, thanks relayer
I looked it up: we lost 5-2 at Anfield on 12/04/63 but the home match was four days later (Good Friday/Easter Monday?) and we won 7-2 with Greaves getting four! This was Liverpool's first season back in the top division for ten years.
Just seen on twitter that Flop has been released by WBA 3 days too ****ing late. Hope he signs for la arse
Anyone think he may have held a grudge against us for getting shot of him earlier in his career? No keeper is that bad.
He had a bust up with Hans Segers, who was our goalkeeping coach at the time. Segers, in his wisdom, decided that our other reserve keeper Robert Burch, was a better prospect than Fulop and so he was sold as part of the deal involving us getting Ben Alnwick. Burch has since never risen higher than Lincoln City and for the past few seasons, has been playing for Notts County reserves, who released him this week. Burch's biggest claim to fame has been proposing to his girlfriend live on daytime TV, whilst at least Fulop did have a couple of half decent seasons after he left us. At the end of the day, it highlights just how unsatisfactory our goalkeeper situation has been beyond the first team for a number of years.
Have you seen much of jack butland at all Spurcat? I've no seen many oof the U21 games recently. He hasn't started for Birmingham yet has he?
I heard Butland is on standby for the Euros. Bugger, that's added a couple of million to his transfer value...
I remember so many good keepers who were kept out of the England squad by Peter Shilton and then David Seaman. Now who have we got ? Joe Hart and Rob Green . . .
