Sadly for him, he's not at the kind of level that interests us.

I'm, just getting impatient now, just want it settled. Mclean tweeted that he was just wondering who the next manager would be, some suggestions were thrown at him but he just said he didn't care who it was, just the right guy to get us where we want to be which I suppose is what we all want. He was asked if it was big deal for the players when the manager changes and he said "defo a big deal".

Personally, I'm not that bothered who we get as long as we don't get Kevin Blackwell !!!!

Really? He hasn't managed for ages, I'd even consider Blackwell ahead of O'Leary.

I do want Billy Davies, best option to have been linked in terms of a proven track record of top 6 finishes.

He managed Al-Ahli in Egypt last season, he won 3, drew 2 and lost 2, then got sacked(these Egyptians don't seem to be very patient).

His captain was Fabio Cannavaro, maybe he'd fancy being cover for Hobbsy for a while...

The more I look at this situation and at the managers around, the more I think that past record is absolutely no predictor of success. I guess it's down to the mix of players, managers, coaches, and even owners. I sometimes think we might as well go for the cheap option. I guess Brownie was cheap when he came in as Assistant Manager and his (initial) success got us to the Premiership!

By the way - I'm not suggesting Brownie this time round!

Funnily enough I was thinking about this the other day. I think we sometimes forget the Brown came in as assistant and just imagine what that was like? Can you really see him and his ego playing second fiddle to anyone?! Must have been a weird dynamic in the changing room for the few weeks before Parky's sacking.

Think Brownie was more or less manager as soon as he came in as Assistant. Geraint williams was basically running the Colchester team for Parkinson as well i think

His ego wasn't anything like as big until he'd achieved something though.

    --------------------------------------

I don't see what the confusion is with odds changing. They're based on profitability not probability. The HDM reported Davies was the favourite so the bookies made him favourite because they knew people would bet on him. Once he was reportedly out of the reckoning and the HDM named a potential 5 man short list the odds on Davies were always going to get longer as people stopped backing him and started backing the other 5.

I'd love to know who told the HDM that after only leaving Wolves in February McCarthy was looking for a break from football before looking for work next season though. For starters his break from football is going to involve him covering both the Euros and the Olympic football for the BBC. And after that, no manager decides to have the summer off and then look for a job when the season starts. They want a job now to give them the best chance of having their own squad in place rather than having to wait til September for someone to get sacked and then have to work with their squad til the January. Plus McCarthy was on the radio for the FA Cup Final coverage and the presenter said "I hope the next time we speak to you it's as the manager of x club", and McCarthy's reply was "So do I". Either he thinks the presenter is a **** who he doesn't want to have to work with over the summer, or he hopes he's going to have a job before he goes to the Euros.

The odds are strange at the minute - everyone seems to be drifting back out. Apart from randomly on Stan James, where Nigel Worthington's odds have come right down.

When is the shortlist going to be announced, or will we only find out the actual manager and not who else they considered?

They're unlikely to announce the short-list, just in case they all turn the job down.

Seriously? Why? O'Leary had TWS in fourth spot of PL before he left, and did pretty well with Villa. Blackwell has always been ****e hasn't he? Not advocating O'Leary, but at least he's not the disaster that Blackwell or Dowie are. Does rather make you wonder why he's been out of management for so long though. Is there something we don't know?
