Absolutely true. In fact you could argue that Citeh are stockpiling players (because of course they can only play 11) so that other clubs can't buy them. Isn't there some law about restrictive practices? I doubt they're be loaning out any more players to other PL clubs either after Ade was a success for us. Also my initial thoughts are how stupid are these players if they think they're going to play all the time. Either they don't care or their agents are doing them a disservice (and no doubt themselves very nicely thank you). How many good players have gone to Citeh (and Chelski in their time) and simply not played and ruined some of the best times of their careers.
I've said before Dona, as have others. He's replaceable for reasons we've pointed out such as lack of goals etc. I wouldn't be fussed if we sold him, as long as we get an obscene amount of money for him and we use the money to reinvest at a cheaper price.
i'd like to see him have to sit out the rest of his contract on the bench,if he start's rattling his cage this summer
spot on Roo...im glad most of us are aware of his limitations...one thing the world is not short of is little midfielders who can play a pass.... as for him saying hes waiting for after the euros...could that be to see if we replace Harry? and possibly replace him with Bilic? could be far fetched..but Bilic has shown his hand and declared his intrest in the job......imagine how much of a cok Modric would lok like if he demanded a move or left us just as his national team boss takes over at the Lane....they love Bilic alot more than they love Modric back home in Croatia. EDIT: not suggesting that we should sack Harry
in an ideal world yes..however we stand to lose 30 million upwards if we took that course of action..on top of paying his wages....i got a better idea.. sell him to City...let him sit on their bench...ive heard the Manchester local council have given City planning permission to extend thier dugout area and install reinforced extendable benches.
Haha yeah. Well that quote really pissed me the piss off. Big tests. I just can't stand either the unnecessary treachery towards the club or the mealy-mouthed lying about "tests" or (possibly worse) genuinely-felt (maybe) idea that playing for someone like Man Utd and trying to win something is a "big test". These footballers - so willing to test themselves by seeing if they can help Norwich win the EPL or to see if they can help Everton become Champions of Europe. They just demand so much of themselves...
I think harry will remain in the job now, Dona. I don't think levy's got a good enough reason to sack him/part ways, as we've finished top 4, 2 seasons out of three under him. I just don't see it happening now. I know we've had our concerns such as tactics etc, but he's got a record that's far better than anyone we've had in recent years. It's not enough for Levy to dismantle things, I don't think. If, however, we spend some money and we don't progress next season, it could be a different story and levy might think about a change to take us to the next level, especially considering redknapps age, too. I also think he'd always have the sacking of Jol for ramos at the back of his mind and wouldnt want to make the same mistake twice.
Was wondering how many players we'd be reported about buying this summer in comparison to who we actually buy. The same for who is reported to be leaving and who actually goes. 2 years years ago we were 'linked' to over 100 players in that summers transfer window...and the only transfer of any note we made was Rafa...who hadn't been mentioned all summer. So far I've seen reports that we will sell or get rid of: Modric (united/city/chelsea) Bale (city/ Barca/ Real M) Rafa (no particular club) Defoe (liverpool/sunderland) Gomes (no particular Club) Pinaer (spelling?) (back to Everton) Saha (french league) Nelson (no particular club) Cudicini (no particular club) Bentley (no Particular club) Bassong (no particular club) Ledley (retire/release) Adebayor (back to city from his loan) In terms of buying I've seen: Remy (£20m from Marseille) Vertonghen (£10m Ajax) Hoilett (Compensation to Blackburn - due to age etc.) Who have I missed so far?
Hugo Lloris (£10m Lyon), Alessandro Del Piero (Free, Juventus), everyone else, ever, anywhere, for any amount.
Bilic has signed on for the Lokomotiv Moscow job - although their season ends in November (barring European competitions), and Russian clubs have itchy trigger fingers. As for Modric, there are plenty of players we could bring in that we've been linked to (Ever Banega - when his leg unbreaks itself - Milan Badelj, Ganso, Mateo Kovacic, Younes Belhanda, Georginio Wijnaldum ), plus we have Huddlestone who plays that role, Kranjcar and VdV can be deployed there, and Carroll is coming through. Of course, if the story turns out to be the regular tabloid bullshit...
I see news is coming out about players being released, but nothing from Spurs that I have seen. Would we normally announce this soon after a season has finished? I guess Saturday's result may impinge on this. I am thinking of Saha, Nelsen, Gallas who I think are all out of contract. News on Ade would be good as well.
Not soon enough mate... I was at WHL when he played against arsenal in the carling cup...he started badly, got worse as the game went on and the less said about the end of the match the better. £16.5m for 1 decent goal at arsenal....and Comolli felt hard done by when we sacked him?
If we're going to release anyone this week, it'll most likely be the academy/reserve players that simply aren't Premier League standard - Alnwick, Obika, and Oyenuga springing to mind, as surely nobody would actually pay money for them?
I don't think that we should go for the really big money signings because as we know they all flopped badly this season. Torres,Bent,Suarez or Carroll did not live up to their exorbitant price tags. For me a good coach can motivate the 15m-20m players who can easily outdo the 35m and more if morale is good.
Moses, Mandzukic, Rossi, Figueroa... there's loads already, I've lost track! Todayslatest: Nilmar: http://www.cleansheetsallround.co.uk/2012/05/tottenham-hotspur-in-the-hunt-for-villarreal-star? Diame: http://www.footballfancast.com/2012/05/football-news/liverpool-and-spurs-lead-chase-for-senegal-ace? Obviously these links are terrible, but it's still a rumour. On a lighter note, this is 100% genuine. http://www.tottenblog.com/2012/05/video-more-sylvie-van-der-vaart.html?
