Can someone explain to me why it is that Bullard wants to play for Jewell at Ipswich but not Pearson at Hull? Our Management is paid a lot of money to motivate and get the best out of our players - in Bullard's case (our best player by far, by the way) they have palpably failed and judging from Saturday's woeful performance they are now failing with all the others. Our team is hard to beat - yes - but drab, uninspiring and lacking flair and character. A reflection of the management style I'm afraid.
Yet ANOTHER childish rant about pearson and his "negative" tactics (which btw see us with a realistic chance of the play offs) TWF? Surely even you are getting bored of them by now? As for this whole Yakubu vs Fryatt lark, you paid a lump sum to loan him and then are paying around ã1mill for his wages if the 50k a week rumour is true. Fryatt cost us ã1.3mill and will be on around 10k a week max. So explain to me how you've managed a a better value acquisition?

You've lost me Matt, I don't think I've mentioned Duke?
You haven't really. But you mentioned not that you wouldn't mind not having him (and amoo and hobbs) and I thought I thought you were implying that you'd rather have the alternative, which is one Matt Duke who, imo, is amongst the worst goalkeepers in the championship
The discussion was about players for next season and as Duke's contract is up in June and I don't expect him to be offered a new one, I wasn't even considering him.
It's plastic fans like TWF who don't understand football which are killing the atmosphere at the KC, I reckon we'd have picked up quite a few points if there weren't so many of these tools filling the stadium, fair enough they pay the money but they know **** all about football, as this article proves.
Is this the same Nigel Pearson that got Leicester promoted straightaway from league 1 (after Holloways disastrous reign as manager) and then got them to the playoffs in the Championship the following season only to lose on pens to Cardiff (and from what I recall should have won the game late on in extra time)
The same Nigel Pearson that has managed to completely overhaul the playing staff at the KC in half a season from PL has beens to a team that has just gone on to claim a Club record unbeaten away run.

OK, so you've added some pretty average achievements at Leicester to some really poor excuses and that's your argument? He's overhauled the playing staff for sure, but is it for the best? He's 50/50 on his signings so far and his football's been dire, there was no need for the poor start to the season, despite having to lose players we've not once had a squad that should be relegated, as for the unbeaten run away, who cares when he can't win at home? He's only got one set of tactics that work away but don't work at home, he's too one-dimensional and just doesn't have the nouse to take us anywhere other than midtable, and from where he picked us up that can only be seen as a step backwards.
Indeed he must do better, come next season the time for excuses will be over.
To be honest, I can see where TWF is coming from; the tactics are a tad defensive, but the fact is, when we were on a run of 1 defeat in 14 games (think that's right, it was around christmas, the defeat ironically enough came against Leicester) the football was free flowing and we looked good. We haven't had much luck in some games and there have been times when we have lacked that one player which can change a game. Every team in the league has one, Leicester have Andy King, QPR have Taarabt etc. We had Geo in the PL, he was one player but what a difference he made. We need a gamechanger; I thought that would have been Koren, but apparently not.
As an aside to this never ending Hull v Leicester argument, I live in Leicester and work in a pub right next to the ground. I don't know where you are getting this 'air of excitement' from, AKCJ, because a lot of Leicester fans I have spoken to think Sven is a bit cack and that Yakubu is ****e. Their opinion, of course, when I heard Yak had signed I thought he would grab 20 goals easy. He seems like more of an Emile Heskey type to me. I do agree with your league predictions though, because we both have boards with plenty of cash, so I wouldn't be surprised to see us both up there next season. That said, money isn't everything, just look at Boro. Wasted all that money on scottish players. Have they not played Championship manager? Always look at Eastern Europe. Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania....

while I disagree with the main point of this thread, we do need something at home as it seems our home form has gone to pot, we haven't won at home since the Preston game and if we are to get promoted be it via the playoffs or more likely next season we need to have a consistent good home and away form, which we seem to never have, its either one or the other
I cant believe anyone is calling for Pearson's head. This season was all about survival and rebuilding with very little money. Admittedly that changed slightly once the Allams came in.
If at the end of last season when we were relegated and the full extent of our debt problems came out someone said "next season we'll have Nigel Pearson as manager, be debt free with new owners and finish in the top half of the table" we ALL would have been over the bloody moon. And yet that is exactly whats happened now and some people are moaning... get a grip will ya.

Its only the odd looney thats calling for his head but theres always a few waiting to jump on the bandwagon which is worrying. I remember Brian Horton getting hounded out because of a few idiots and he could have got us up to the top-flight years before Brownie did it, unfortunately a lot of fans don't see the bigger picture a lot of the time. Fair enough when the managers not up to scratch like Molby, Ternent, Hately, Parkinson and so on, you can tell very quickly but Pearson clearly has what it takes to be a great manager for us.
What we were missing on Saturday was a right full back, a left winger, a right winger, a midfield genreral, and somebody in place of Mclean (who's increasingy looking like the waste of money I was worried he would be) to hold the ball up.
If only we had say Rosenior, Stewart, Danns, Ambrose, and someone like Austin.
Oh wait, we have 2 of those, we're likely to sign the third, the 4th could well be available in the summer and up for moving with his team mate, and the 5th we tried to sign but the management didn't feel he was worth the money Burnley ended up paying. How's he doing for them anyway?
