King's having surgery again after the final game, so I think that should really be it for him.
He's just going to do himself in for later life if he keeps this up.

Despite not rating most of Arsenal's centre-backs, I do think that Song looks pretty good there as emergency cover.
He's been gradually getting less useful as a holding player over the past couple of years, though.
He focuses too much on attacking and leaves big gaps when he's caught out.

Mertesacker's not suited to the English league, which is what I thought might happen before he signed for the Goons.
He's extremely uncomfortable when he's turned towards his own goal and he gets done by pace too easily, plus he struggles with the physicality at times.
He's sort of like a defensive Peter Crouch in that manner.
He's big, but he doesn't impose himself on his opponent.

Fair point PNP and agree re: the impact on Ledders future life. However, Song as CB would have to be a last resort for the Goons because he has been just about their most creative MF this year - provided most of RVP's assists.

He's generally quite crap when Arteta's not playing, though.
The Spaniard basically keeps their team ticking over and protects the back four at the same time.

Maybe I should watch them more often? Or maybe not....... :headbang:

In regards to Vertonghen, I think his Ajax teammate Toby Alderweireld has also been impressive this season in the Europa League, and would be worth a shot if we don't get Jan. Wouldn't mind seeing them both at Spurs next season tbh.

On the subject of prospective transfers (and me not thinking it merits starting a new thread), we could do worse than making a double bid for Olivier Giroud and Younes Belhanda for Montpelier.

Giroud has 21 goals and 11 assists from centre forward, whilst Belhanda has 12 goals and 6 assists from midfield (and can play centrally, in the hole, or on the wing) - more importantly, it would be stealing a march on Man City who are looking at Belhanda as a reasonably-priced alternative to Eden Hazard, as he's valued at £7m.

He's certainly made a couple of bold predictions. If you checkout his website it gives a pretty interesting description of transfer targets for different clubs including spurs. The only thing he's got right so far is the timing of podolski and that we've targeted M'vila. As for the rest lets put it this way if Mathias Suarez gets Belgium residency and comes to arsenal and lewis holtby comes to arsenal hes obviously good tough some of his predictions are quite far fetched. I'm still waiting to see. As far as arsenal are concerned wearethenorthbank is probably the most reliable blog. If we sign yann M'vila then you are my arsenal has got it petty spot on too.

Man Utd rumour from cb's site: Leandro Damiao: This one is clear cut. The Manchester side has place a £30 million offer and are waiting for an answer.

Can't see that for a second.

Maybe not, but they will be in for a striker I think, Berbs has had it there imo, and Pea-boy is causing concern for SAF.

Agree with that I feel he will end up at juventus thugh the guy does mention they are in for him too.

£30mill for a player that's unproven outside Brazil and has far less hype than Robinho did, who moved for closer to half that. Then there's the argument that whilst Berbatov is leaving, if they're going to spend big money improving an area it will be midfield and maybe defence. £30mill to replace a player that's made 5 league starts this season, I guess they'll be signing Cavani to replace Owen too.

The Montpellier chairman is a psychopath, you will have to pay a fortune to get either of them.

Me neither. They have Rooney and Welbeck. Maybe they would go for another striker, but 30mil is a bloody expensive third option for a club with relatively limited finances. Plus, as has been said, for a player unproven outside of his own country, it's a very expensive risk.

<laugh>

Settled in my arse, he's utter ****e! Google mertesacker mistake...it'll take all day to get through them all ! <laugh>

His injury has only spared him from more pitch embarrassment.

That wasn't a mistake though. He went down writhing in agony because he was injured!

Does it change the fact he's ****?, and for your information he wasn't injured before that fall, if he injured himself during the fall that makes him an even bigger tit! Either way, I don't care....he's still rubbish! :)

As said above, a defensive Peter Crouch, bound to get something right occasionally, but generally just a giraffe aimlessly wandering around....you could say "avin a giraffe" even!

i'd pretend i was injured if i had made a mistake like that, what a prat

Nice try. Unfortunately, he's still an expensive donkey. He's got the turning circle and speed of the QE2. Forwards like Tevez, Suarez, etc will give him problems that he just can't handle.
