Didn't Verthongen say he was/is a Spurs fan.....I did catch him reading Keano's autobiography though!
If, as was implied back in January, we had a deal in place for him to arrive at the end of the season that will make the speculation nothing but a waste of column inches (ditto goes for Rasmus Elm) Still, if they do arrive ASAP, that gives us plenty of time to address the need for a new front line.
Seemed to me like a bit of mistranslation, from the interview I think he was meaning that we are his favoured choice of the clubs interested rather than his favourite club.
go knows what's been going on HBIC. regardless, i bet your getting excited over us looking more favourable for him now, eh? nearly one down off of your wish list mate! Rasmus Elm, what was all that about? it seemed he was pretty much nailed on to join us. how can they print such rubbish?
Yeah I'm sure they were saying a deal was done and he was joining in the summer? Maybe something like a Sandro situation, but at least we actually were kept in the know about what was going on with him! Elm has just completely gone off the radar.
usually the papers are so vague, that when change occurs (as they know it will because they've printed bullshit) they can easily get away with it. But to actually say that elm was joining in the summer, was such a massive statement. I saw it printed in about 3 different places too. here's one, that's repeating the news from "Expressen". I know my link is to tribal football, but my point is that someone made this up elsewhere! http://www.tribalfootball.com/artic...deal-az-star-rasmus-elm-ahead-man-utd-2557021
Ah but if he was 'that good' then they would have found a way to get him in there... obviously they doesn't rate him enough
Elm is more on Pools radar, Kenny went to watch him, but he didn't play, his wife went into labour and they forgot to tell KD who was fuming he went to Holland for fuk all! Toon were looking to hijack it apparently. From what I read he's a MFer, so, looks like Modric will be told he's staying again!
Elm is more of Gerrard type player than a playmaker, operating in the middle or on the right and capable of chipping in with his share of goals (something we haven't had many of from central midfield the last two or three seasons, it has to be said), which would explain the Losers snifing around - although it could be argued the fact Elm wasted The Grand Wizard's afternoon can be read as a lack of interest in Liverpool on his part. We're linked to a lot of players in the Eredivisie at the moment. Vertonghen, Elm, Georginio Wijnaldum and Jerson Cabral all coming up in recent weeks (and, in the case of Vertonghen and Elm, since December) - although Wijnaldum has naturally been tagged with the "Modric replacement" tag and talk of a £20m buy-out clause has surfaced, even though he's probably worth half that at this stage in his career.
Again, as has been already said, I'll beleive it when I see him at the press conference holding a Spurs shirt. Until then, it's all guesswork.
All this talk of CB's - can anyone enlighten me on how Uvini has done during his loan period? I have only seen some video clips from his Brazil games which looked pretty impressive and I understood we had an option to buy for around £4m. Is there any indication as to whether that deal will go through?
I don't pay any attention to this kind of guff really, the few posts above explain why! Do people really think there's going to be an early heads up on a signing! Spurs look at countless players, I only commented on Kenny because it was amusing.
Some are, some aren't - Vertonghen seems to be legit, and in the past several of them have come true (let's just ignore the fact the players brought in included Andy Reid and Ben Thatcher...)
There's bound to be an odd one or two, but generally its a sea of rubbish speculation, its just not worth fishing for.
