With the current squad this would be the players who would have to be named in the 25

1. Davis
2. Richardson
3. Harding
4. Schneiderlin
5. Fonte
6. Lambert
7. Cork
8. Barnard
9. Guly
10. Sharp
11. Butterfield
12. Fox
13. Hammond
14. Martin
15. Chaplow
16. Lee
17. Lallana
18. Bart
19. Connolly
20. Seaborne
21. Hooiveld
22. De Ridder
23. Puncheon
24. Forecast
25. Forte
Only player in the squad I've missed out (I think), is Jaidi as he is retiring. If the players above are with us next season and play in the Prem they will have to be registered, leaving us no free spaces for over 21 players

1 point worth mentioning is that the 25 man squad MUST include a minimum of 8 'home grown' players and can be added to by any number of players who are under 21.
Bart would qualify as home grown as would Lallana and possibly Morgan, but I can't think of anyone else in the above list to make up the eight.

Not quite as home grown means trained at any English/Welsh club for three years between 16th and 21st birthdays, not just our own club. So all our British players count.

Thought it was 4years?.

Its 3 or 4 between 16 and 21. I think there is another rule where 4 of the 25 have to be home grown at the club, but if you leave spaces in your 25 then it counts (so we could have Lallana, Bart and Schneiderlin in the 25 and only name a 24 man squad). I'm pretty sure aswell that only 1 current Prem team have filled their 25 man allocation, most are under the limit.

I hate this part of the season. The players have bought into the dream and a few of them simply aren't going to be included. Yes, they've been part of the dream so far, and that's great for them, but I'd hate to be told that's the end, and I'd also hate to be one who tells it.

Jaidi is retiring, so nobody has to tell him anything, but just to shake his hand and wish him well. A great CB for Saints. Wouldn't mind him being 10 years younger. Fonte and Hooiveld wouldn't be playing together, unless he was injured, that's for sure. Did I hear that Saints may have offered him a coaching position..?

I'd expect to see Jaidi given some hands-on experience with Saints, nothing confirmed anywhere yet tho. There was an article on skysports about his ambition to be a manager so hopefully one day we'll see him do that!

Interesting to see peoples opinions, I would like to see the following leave;

Harding
Bart
Connolly
Puncheon
Forecast
Forte
Barnard
Butterfield
Dickson
Holmes
Jaidi (obviously retiring)

Can't wait till we loan out the likes of Callum Chambers, Luke Shaw, Jack Stephens and co. - they will rip up the lower leagues and everyone will be falling over themselves to get their hands on them. Only to realise they belong to us, a Premier League club.

Yes, and also that these most promising and talented youngsters will be able to stay with us to experience the Premier League, and are far less likely to be stolen 'Arsenal style'. Finally...!

Up until the point that Chaplow got injured at Bristol late November last year, we had won 69% of our games with him (16 in total). At that point we had also won 50% without him (four in total).

Following his injury, it is no coincidence that without Chaplow we had a bad run from December through to mid-Feb winning only 30% of our games (10 games in total).

Once Chaplow returned, we won 64% of our games through to the end of the season and 40% without him. Throughout the whole season; with Chaplow our win ratio was 67% (27 games in total) and without, 42% (26 games in total).

During some of our best performances, notably 3-0 against 'Boro and 4-0 v Derby, Chaplow was present.

Chaplow drives the play forward and takes players on unlike Cork, Hammond and Schneiderlin. His tenacity supplements Scheiderlin's creativity and Cork's passing well. He is a CM and in some ways it is a shame that he's played out on the wing where IMO he is less effective but still a better bet than Guly and De Ridder. He scored more goals than Hammond, Schneiderlin and Cork this season, passes and tackles well and has an adventurous box-to-box style.

If Chaplow is not good enough for the Prem, then that's the same said for a lot of the rest of the squad and that's just not true. I'd hate to lose Chaplow next season.

Its v late and my typing skills are waning but this sums up the Chaplow argument very well and could i not have put it better myself

I agree Forecast, Dickson, Forte, Holmes, and Jaidi are surely out. Likely Connolly or Barnard would be next. We will need to make space and they are certainly replaceable with out spending a lot. After that I think it will depend on how many NA brings in. Each one after the 4th means someone else will need to go.
