Is that why your chairman didn't appoint either of them?

I'm sure they were high up on the list, but obviously when the best-qualified man becomes available, you've got to take him.

Which might be why you go for Mick McCarthy, just because he's got the trinkets.

OLM, didn't he want Sharp even though your club already spent a lot of money on McLean who Barmby wasn't getting the best out of?

A sane Chairman would appoint Keith Hill or Lee Clark.

Why? Don't we want to be successful? Honestly don't see the fascination some have with Lee Clark - if he was that good, why didn't someone take a chance on him when he was at Hudders? Neither of these two would be any better than NB IMO

I'm sure a fair few wanted to, but he was happy with the resources he had.

If it's true your owners are limiting the moonehs, Keith Hill would be your best bet. Used to working with **** all and still getting results.

Barmby didn't want Sharp, but it seems our owner did, though wasn't prepared to fund the players Nick did want.

As for Mclean, we have been getting the best out of him, there's nothing more he's got to give.

Really? If he can bang in 8 goals for a relegated side then you would hope he would get 12 for us.
Judging by how he plays I would say not, I'm guessing he just happened to score 4 goals that came off his arse in that season for Peterborough..

I'd come to a similar conclusion...

mclean should be sold this summer i think. he's a striker and a striker is meant to score goals... he doesnt do that. its all well & good working your arse off and chasing down lost causes.. but if you cant hit the back of the net what good are you ?

hope the new manager see's he's not good enough and sells him to a lower championship team or good L1 team.

I'm not a fan of these older managers who are really awkward with the media and often play ugly football. People like Allardyce and McCarthy I'm talking about. Davies has a good record but is a bit of a tosser, Solskjaer wouldn't want to come here, Joyce probably wouldn't either. I can't think of a realistic candidate that's any good.

I really hope they just keep Barmby.

Personally, I don't like Davies, not because I don't think he's able, just because I think he's a bit of an irritating twat. I was looking forward to seeing what Nick could actually do, when he was able to bring in the players he needs to play the system he quite obviously wants to play. It's quite possible that I'm biased(in fact, I almost certainly am), but I think given the signings he wanted, he could have pulled it off.

OLM - totally agree - that said not convinced about his backroom staff particularly his assistant whom I'd never heard of before I saw him at Derby.

Ideally NB would have been better served being a No 2 or the main man with an old head alongside him like Dougie Freedman has in Lennie Lawrence.

If we lose Nick it will be a crying shame after all that he has done for the Club and what he means to the Club.

Hopefully both parties can swallow some pride and patch things up even if Nick has to be a No2.
