Cant really agree with that logic at all. If teams will have figured out how we play and therfore how to beat us, buying better players aint gonna change that as the system will stay pretty much the same. I personally think the reasoning behind "second season syndrome" (god knows why its called that its not like it happens to all sides in their second season)is that established Premier league teams generally have a bigger budget and therefore can improve their teams more than newly promoted teams on smaller budgets. We are pretty much always gonna be playing catch up. It all depends on the finances of the newly promoted teams.
In this day and age I would be shocked that teams would need a season to figure another team out. With all the coverage of championship/Premiership football it surprises me that you think that these established teams only know about how we play by the end of the season. I am sure that these analysts that are no doubt on good money working for these bigger clubs didnt have a folder full of information about our style of play and game management prior to the beginning of this season.
As most people have said on here at sometime fo rall of Bucks qualities plan b's are maybe not one of them. Therefore on that premise we are pretty easy to figure out!!
But hey what do I know about football I am just a mere fan and have never sat behind a desk on a radio/tv programme giving my "expert opinion" about how well teams will or will not play in the best league in the world.
Pundits opinions are just that, opinions which are sometimes correct and often wrong.
Just one last questio on this so called syndrome. Why does it only apply to the Premiership? If its a syndrome based on other teams figuring newly promoted teams out surely its the same for all leagues and all divisions. Super(sweeping statement)swan99 is also on record as saying that everybody knows that we would do worse in the second half of the season and that turned out to be bollocks. Currently 20-24 and counting if my memory is correct. 
A lot of teams lose there nerve , upset the team structure by spending to make the team better & only make matters worst . Dropping out of the Premier is not as important to me than the way we drop . We'll have had at least 100,000,000 over two seasons , lets not travel down the road of many relegated teams by spending to stay up & arrive in the Championship with only parachute payments ( some teams have even borrowed on these payments to stay up & dropped anyways ) & a big wage bill . Build a academy & training ground that will bring our next Championship team along & if we do drop , start from scratch in a position of power after selling the top players that want to leave in this scenario
the question was would we rather BLOW all our budget on keeping siggs and caulker and play with the same team next season......was that the question asked

I wouldn't say we are desperate at all, a few tweaks here and there & I can't see why we can't hold our own again next season
not a chance in hell we would hold our own for the reasons i stated....we are lacking at the back and we are desperate for a natural lone striker. midfield we are not that desperate but i would say we are too light weight against the more physical teams......we were not as good in the second half of the season as we were in the first half because of that element of surprise, next seaon we only have southampton and maybe west ham who have not played against us in recent seasons, the rest know exactly what we are all about and will use that knowledge just like norwich and qpr did this season......
Love Joe and Leon but I do think that teams have started to close them down and muscle them off the ball towards the latter part of the season. We do need a bit of ball winning aggro in there to allow us to play but how will that affect the balance? Who would we drop?
Joe and Leon have a great understanding and play teams to death on their day but those days seemed to be drying up to me. Bring in a bruiser and our passing will suffer, unless that bruiser can play football as well. Trouble is, football playing bruisers tend to cost a fortune. (Ya Ya, Keane, Viera, Petite etc)
Even if we sign Siggy that won't solve it. Two of our worst performances were when he was playing! He's a great player but he's not a ball winner. He's a creator/goal scorer but still needs to be given the ball to perform. The answer seems to be that we will have to continue to play the same way but better with the addition of some quality players. Oh, and we must move the ball forward quicker and learn to play for 90 minutes.

..I agree Ash the reason we've been strong enough is Because of Siggs and Caulker so buy them
We must remember that Kemy is a player that was missed for parts of this season, especially against the bigger teams, with him in the team we can rest joe or leon a bit more. Intrestingly enough when we played the likes of Stoke and Norwich it wasnt so much our midfield as our defence as well,but in these games there wasnt really much between us and of course we beat stoke with monk playing defence !.
The way we play means having 7ft giants built like terminators wont make a great deal of difference if we are being closed down in the midfield areas i beleive that when our boys are hungry enough for the work they go looking to create space more and get alot more movement in their game, lately it hasnt been happening so much because i beleive we are getting more tired as the end of the season approaches.
The signing of Josh Mc was a mistake for sure, unlucky for us and him. He was meant to be IMO an integral part of our midfield and also team rotation that would have meant the likes of leon and joe being fresher when we needed , it didnt work out for josh who to me looked like he didnt enjoy doing the spade work.Not having him and Kemy to spread the load has had an end of season effect that has sometimes exposed us .
The loan market for me is more critical than the signing of players,getting the right players makes all the difference , if we can get a player on loan like frimpong from arsenal then him and kemy should give us the required strength.
Defence is going to be key next season, again the loan market should be our friend. There will be plenty of players that would now look forward to playing for us and that will help in plugging the holes our budget wont cover.
If we had the chance of signing Siggy and Caulker and using all our transfer budget i would do this, we wont lose money on these boys and watching cisse again score a blinder for Newcastle against Chelsea its easy to see you get what you pay for at this level.
spending 1-2m pound on "squad "players wont garentee us safety anyway and collectively 4-5 of this type of signing would be the same drain on resources RE wages etc spending big money on proven talent like siggy and caulker will go a long way to making us strong as that has been proven by their performances this season. Squad players are usually hard to off load as well, look at the problems we've had in this area the last few years.
We have signed young up and coming players like obeng and donelly, there is as much of a chance as them making solid progress as ther is of relying on journey men squad players who command decent money to sit on the bench.
Its a difficult situation and all hypothectical anyway, but surely you go with what you KNOW will perform as opposed to 4-5 players that maybe wont make much more difference than Jazz or bessone or orlandi etc.
A centre half is definatly required though as both Tate and Monk are not good enough

agree with you ivor ...you can see what a lot of us can see, leon and joe are fantastic players and have a huge part to play...but they do get mussled of the ball against the more physical sides and thats why we need bigger more powerful midfielder to play against the bigger sides, with siggs you are spot on about us having our worst games when he was playing. siggs will be a marked man next season and probably wont be as effective as he was, its the same as danny he has been sussed and easily dealt with by defenders and thats why he has not scored as he should for the most part of the second half of the season...there is so many positions to strengthen before the new season starts........I could not care about siggs as he is not worth £10 million i would rather keep caulker on loan...but the one who we could have trouble keeping is Vorm as he is hot property that many big clubs will be calling at the liberty for in the summer break......siggs they can have, caulker i would love back, but its Vorm who has saved us this season and should we lose him then we could be in real trouble....

Certainly not on points scored or goals scored. (Points 20-24, goals scored 18-25) In the 2nd half of the season we won 4 away from home compared to zero in the first half and also manged to beat Arsenal and Manchester City.

It stands to reason the more they work us out the more we work them out, so really nothing much changes . A few slight alterations to formation and tactics and hey ho lets go !!

TBH, when you're only 5'5" I doubt going in the gym would make any difference at all.
