Yes he was adament that Gylfi wasnt going to mention us in the press ... In fairness i think thats the first time he has ever been wrong on this forum fair play ...
i want him as much as anyone but not for £10 million i dont. £5 million maximum is enough to risk on a player that has been well marked after his initial burst of goals and we have had some bad losses since he has not been able to play his game to the same effect. he wont have it all his own way next season with us as everyone knows what he can do and he will be well marked.....so dont get carried away with his goals as nobody knew him.....they do now. we have made two offers and both have been turned down and the offer of £4.5 million was a well thought out offer and a fair offer. i dont think we will offer more than £5 million on the basis of the fact he will be well marked and unlikely to score so freely next season.....£10 million is silly money that would be better spent on two or three players than on one.....
I agree with Superswan on this, we won't spend stupid money on him, I have said all along about £6m is the maximum to go. Good see that he does want to stay with us though.
I agree with Dai on this one too , Sig knows he went out of his way to not mention Swansea by name when he said he wanted to come to a Premier League club , to the point he had to finally mention Swansea to appease . The club won't spend what he will go for , loan or bust I'm afraid ... 5,000,000 or so will be spent for someone though , exciting !!
Dai, I thought you wanted us to spend loads of money? Surely it's better to spend that money on a player we know fits our system than one we don't? After all, in your words, we'd have been relegated without Sigurdsson, surely he's worth paying for if that's the case?
You'd think, wouldn't you Scott. Such a turnaround in decisions. One minute he's saved us from relegation, but then he's not worth more than 5 million.
I'm not sure he is a 10m quid player but I'm sure the club will know exactly how much he is worth to them. The Germans may want full price but they stand to lose him for nothing in 18 months time, his value gets lower every day. 7m and I think he is ours. But I think it might even be lower depending on what clauses are in the contract.
How do you know Jenkins was forced to do anything by the board Super-whatever-your-name-is? Bollocks. Musty: "so is BR a poor manager for having no plan B as many have pointed out?" Is that what you think musty? You've had a pop at our style of play repeatedly too so I'm interested.
I'll go out on a limb & say Swansea will never pay 7,000,000 for a player , ever ! Never know though ...
I dont think so no. Plan B or no Plan B he did what previous managers failed to do and got us promoted to the Premiership. Plan B or no Plan B he has kept us in the Premiership. Martinez brought us fantastic attacking football then left with our attacking force. At short notice Sousa had to improve us defensively at the cost to our attack and we finsihed higher than in previous seasons. Brendan balanced us out and improved us and for me where we are now is testament to how good he is. He is only going to get better. Credit where credit is due. The Chairman and board for the foresight and ability to recognise he could do the job for us; the manager for his new additions and improving the quality; and finally the players for actually beleiving and delivering on the pitch. Now I must go and try on my jumpsuit and wig!!
Arsenal are rumoured to be in for Siggy. Thing is, they have already bought Lukas Podolski for £10 million and I don't see that they will need Siggy with the likes of Wilshire returning next season as well. Now I like Siggy but if Podolski, with all his ability, experience and achievements is worth £10 million, in comparison, imo, Siggy is only worth £7 million... TOPS. In fact, with the Podolski benchmark, I would say £6 million is more reflective. Lets be honest, for all his undoubted talent, Siggy lacks one vital element - pace. And the top clubs do like that in a midfield player if they can get it. I see our challengers for his signature being more the likes of Everton and Newcastle, bigger clubs than us, but not necessarily floating Siggy's boat; bearing in mind that he knows our club and the players, knows our style and knows that he would be an integral part of our plans for next season which might not be the case at other clubs. If Hoffenheim are prepared to be realistic, we might be in with a chance here.
True, Ivor. It'll be down to him really whether he want to chase the money. I suspect his wages would be considerably higher elsewhere even on the bench.
Well rumour has it our bid was £5 million and according to the daily mail (i know i know, poor source!!) that Hoffenhiem want £8.2 million (random number, i know ?!?) soooo £6.5 million may just get him. This is the minimum we can expect was a straight up transfer fee without add ons as they will want to recoup at least what they paid for him which was rumoured to be around £6-£6.5 million
I dont know what the usual trolls in kangaroo and ash are on about as they never ever fail to have a dig no matter what i say it takes all sorts i suppose... why break our transfer fee now when there was a lot of ho ha on here the last time.? Our record is £3.5 million and now some want to double that for siggs........He is not worth that amount of a risk having only played a quarter of the season and like i said his goals were hard to come by now after his initial burst of goals. managers know him now and the last few matches he never had much of a look in as he was well marked......our offer is a good offer and if Hoff want to go for the highest bidder (we would) then so be it...as someone said there are plenty of fish in the sea and we will have to move on than waste time on a player that is out of our price range....

love it if we can get him for what we have offered.....but i doubt it very much...time to move on and get the real players we need for next season which is more important than waiting on a player that we know we cant afford. if we can get him then great but if we cant then im not bothered, Im more concerned on whether we can keep vorm for next season.////
