**Promoting the board**

As a little aside, for those who wish to if you follow this link you'll find a few potentially useful options about half way down.

These include hiding Avatars and Sigs, and increasing the number of posts per page up to 40. (is it 20 as default?)


-The collapsible side bars are well out of my hands sorry, thats down to the admin at the moment.
-The merging of posts is always a bit of a compromise, some say its too much whilst others say its not enough. I try to keep an eye on this opinion to make sure its around 50/50 most of the time :)
-I can promote threads to articles so if anyone spots a interesting thread or one thats got the latest news let me know and I'll get it promoted <ok>
- Finally, as to the live chat bar, we asked about that a while back and I can't see it happening any time soon unfortunately.

Speaking of Sam, I am told that he and Mercedes completed some "filming" at Silverstone on Friday during a public test day. The car went out several times but just for one lap runs, with the other people using the track having to remain in their garages.
 
Thinking of throwing up a sub-forum for threads that revolve around F1-based games (i.e. "Caption Comp" or "Which driver's name sounds most like a cucumber?"), but not huge games like the sweepstakes or +/-. What do you guys think? Yea or nay?

All we need is one subforum for 'off-topic' - including all the games and quizzes and any non-F1 threads, in my opinion, called 'The Paddock' or somesuch.
 
We have set up a thread on the moderators board to try and get the admins to set us up a sub forum. we are pushing (BLS even offered a very tempting packet of hobnobs to the deal) but they are not yet budging. I dont know if they realise how popular the F1 board is and how seperated we are from the main football focus of the forum... =/

Thanks, guys. <ok> Even if it doesn't come off, thanks for trying. We are in a bit of a ghostly position as I'm sure all the other sports' boards on not606 are intended to provide somewhere for the footy fans to discuss other sports rather than actually provide for an autonomous anarcho-syndicalist commune like ours.

I read that thread during my 15 minutes of American Football fame. To the unnamed moderator of an unnamed forum who made an unspecified comment and may or may not read this one: I would politely point out the respective post counts of the Watford forum and the forum that person moderates.

Perhaps if you suggest that forums with a post count of over 50,000 are allowed to apply for a sub-forum? That would strike a good balance between keeping thriving forums happy, and limiting the number of off-topic sub-forums. I happen to know of at least two Watford-supporting mods who would probably back that idea up.
 
They should give you one, the Geordies have their own sub-forum, but they enjoy a privileged position on this site.

Mick will be too lazy to do it though...

I'd imagine its more that Mick probably hasn't read the thread or that its low down his priority list than him actually objecting to it.

I've set up a RSS feed from this board into Twitter. I need to tweak it to put all the right tags in but in theory it'll scan the board every 30 mins and post any new threads on Twitter with a link.

This means any breaking news threads will be worldwide asap, plus the obvious benefit of all threads just going to Twitter.


Theres a stats mode as well so I can see how many people are following the links into the forum <ok>
