If you have the belief that if you go 1 down you can fight back to get a win or a draw then that will give you impetus to go out and do that, newly promoted sides have that. after a season of not always being able to get that back or a few games where you have been totally out played then as soon as that 1st goal goes in the 2nd and 3rd will soon follow. Ipswich have been guilty of this over the last 2 years and gone on horrible runs of defeats. believe me if you get a hammering at arsenal and then lose to villa, doubts will be in the minds of players, perhaps they will look more favourably at offers from established clubs as a more secure option and if these offers are turned down by the club unrest could settle in.

We've picked up 14 points from losing positions this season, something only bettered by two teams, so that blows that one out of the water.

Also we have only been outplayed in a handful of games out of thirty-six.

Again that assumes that there are no proposed changes, players sign contracts based on the ambitions and plans a club has. Every player at the club is aware of that too many goals have been leaked, but is there a sense that can be turned around, I'd like to think so, The team is also aware that they have had a very unsettled defence throughout the season. There are so many factors that need to be considered, but you keep hammering away at the same point. Yes it can have an influence, but there are so many other issues that can completely negate your point about momentum

Put yourself in the position of Grant Holt, he has got say 3 years left at the top. I don't know what he is on but i heard something of a top wage of 15k for you guys. So say if a club came in for him and were prepared to offer him european football and 45k a week in wages. what would you do in his situation?

Fulham, Bolton, Wigwam and Stoke are the sides that have come up and established themselves in the premier league in the last 10-12 years. I can't think of anyone else.

Some good points raised on this thread - will a Norwich, Swansea, Reading or Southampton be able to repeat this and become established?

of those 14 points how many were in the first half of the season and how many were in the second half?

because there has been a definate increase of the second season relegation in these years, probably due to the increase of overseas investors. I can't fiddle the numbers.
..............can't fiddle the numbers? you have said that 10 teams have been relegated in their second season since the start on the premier. that is 10 out of 57 relegated teams. i make that just 17.5%, not the 33% you initially quoted. just about half as many as you are trying to make us believe.

I believe southampton & Reading can, got a lot of money behind them. Of the more established clubs now that my fall, i reckon Bolton, Fulham and stoke could drop down within the next 3 seasons.

Yeah agreed it could happen that players will leave, given the right circumstances. All I'm really trying to say is things look as positive as they could be for a club in Norwich's position and the second season sydrome has very little if anything to do with momentum, there are so many other factors that determine the ability of a club to continue to establish themselves.

I also said that there has been significate increase in the last 6 years, which is where i clearly state the figures came from. so of 18 clubs promoted, 6 of those have been relegated in their second season which is 33.3333333%.

Does it matter? You said after a season of not being able to do that!

<doh>

We have picked up ten points since January, so that definitely blows it out of the water<laugh>

Of course it matters, I'm saying at the start of the season you have that belief to come back because you have done so over the previous seasons and then that belief drains away after a few results that go against you.

I thought the Reading sale hasn't gone through yet Guru
Bolton will probably go this year (i'd rather QPR did), not sure about Stoke. Fulham could struggle if they lost Dembele and Dempsey, and a lot of their first team is quite old (murphy, Duff, Senderos to name a few) however, i've seen them a few times this season, and they have a decent academy / knack of signing young players from overseas, so not sure myself.

Well I'm looking forward to a second summer of finding out about the comings and goings in the transfer market as we prepare for our second season in the Premier League and increased financial stability
