OK here is a possible - I won't say probable- scenario for May 13th. Man City are top on goal difference and QPR are in 17th place, again on goal difference. Both have to win to get the title and avoid the drop respectively. But - and here's the interesting bit - both could achieve their aims with a draw,if results elsewhere pan out for them,or in an extreme case either could lose and still win,if you see what I mean. That would be the game of Premiership history.

Back to the OP,and how Arsenal 1 Wigan 2 affects it.Well first of all the odds on Wigan for the drop have lemgthened to 6/1.As they were odds on for the drop eight days ago that is a pretty spectacular turnaround by Martinez. Two tricky fixtures, although by comparson with the last two a stroll in the park.I expect them to take 7 points.

Blackburn:The toughest to predict.Chelsea.who will have either won or lost the cup on the last day, playing Wigan when they may be safe,Spurs and Us.6 points.

Bolton: 6 Games in three weeks.Apart from Villa five of them have nothing to play for.Would expect two wins, two draws, two defeats.8 points from 6.

The Villa: Only peripherally involved but last night's result at The Emirates drops them right in it.Some tricky fixtures. Fellow strugglers Bolton,a West Midlands derby with The Baggies and us away on the last day,a match that will now surely figure in the battle.6 points from 5.

QPRcelona: The toughest fixtures by a country mile. The last game at The Etihad that Man City may be desperate to win too would be my bet of the season not to finish with 22 players on the pitch. (Maybe 18 or 19) It is possible that Rangers may have already joined Wolves by then but I wouldn't let that hold you back from a flutter on the wildest game of the season! 4 points

Wolves: Already gone IMO Un point.

My final table:

15 Villa 41

16 Wigan 41

17 Bolton 37

18 QPR 35

19 Blackburn 34

20 Wolves 24

Another round down and the clear winners this weekend were QPR.Their home form is helping them and I had them down for a draw against Spurs plus a win against Stoke.

And let's be honest, we're probably quite enjoying this moment being stretched out. We know we're safe (Wigan would have to improve their goal difference enormously, as well as QPR and Bolton win all their games, plus Villa pick up a couple of wins) and in a way it's delicious to wait for the inevitable moment. Like a sip of a very good brandy.

I have a rather nice Burgundy in the cellar awaiting confirmation! <ok>

(OK, I don't have a cellar, it's under my desk!)

On the morning of the Portsmouth game, I bought a very nice red here in Vietnam, with an instruction to myself only to open it if or when we got promotion. I didn't expect Cardiff to crumble like they did, so it didn't last long! Middle of the night here in Vietnam, but I just stayed up and drank the whole thing till the small hours.

Excellent! <ok>

Just proves that supporting NCFC encourages binge drinking!

Used to be a Burgundy man but it's become a bit pricy of late.St.Joseph is my current favourite- still available for just over a tenner.

Years ago,mid 80's I think Sainsbury's had a Crozes-Hermitage for £3.99.A wonderful creamy tasting wine.It was relatively unheard of at that time and I got a taste for Rhones.Sadly it got discovered and shot up in price.Still good value though. Maybe we should have a Canary Wine thread?

Yes I can just see Lambert weaving his way home through The Gorbals with a cold fish supper in his pocket and the arm ripped off his suit jacket.
