I'm not saying we should only go for young players, but younger players, say 26/27 which can have a role at the club for the next 3 or so years.
If this is his last season in a city shirt, then it'll be good to see him go out on top. He's done well over the last few games. He was part of one our greatest teams and he played his part. Good luck to him.
If that was his final game for us (at the KC) then I think everyone here will wish him well in the future. A great servant for this club who was a key part of our promotion side in 07/08 and a model pro to boot. Good luck to him in the future.
I saw etc.....There is a difference between the words....'nearly' and 'have' nearly does not mean have....Selective reading me thinks...
If he intend going to Australia, may be he would accept a low wage contract until January when he could leave for Aussie season?
he's just tweeted saying he believes he's played his last game for us and states it seems highly unlikely he'll be offered another contract by hcafc.
It will be interesting to see If Garcia is offered a new extension. Seems NB is not discussing it and looks like Saturday may have been his last game at the KC. I for one will be sad to see him go. He was out in the wilderness for a while but since his return has played a steadying role within the team. He is a consumate professional and always gives a 100% I know some around me in the South Stand have not been too impressed in the past but I think at Championship level he can become an integral part of the team. I had really expected with all the potential moves in the summer that he would have been given an extension for a further season. We can do with his experience and enthusiasm in what is a young team and next season, whoever is still here, could benefit from Richard playing alongside them.
Personally I think he'll head down under to play next season in Oz. http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/story-15890197-detail/story.html? Been a good servant to the club.
City should definitely offer him a new deal if Garcia wants to stay. Experienced pro & great squad player
I don't mind if he goes as long as we bring in sufficient replacements. Garcia has been fantastic for us & I'd love him to say goodbye after scoring a goal against his old club next weekend!
Fair enough, I think I misread you there. I'm not convinced he's any less fit than the rest of the team though.
Garcia - 'Don't think there is any chance of the club renewing my contract' Barmby - 'At this moment we're not sure. Garc has kept his cards close to his chest. He's out of contract and well within his rights to go and speak to other clubs. If he does and if he goes, he goes with our blessing because he's been outstanding for us. We'll be sorry to see him leave.' Amongst other comments, Garcia makes it sound as if he wants a new deal but he won't get one, whilst Barmby makes it sound like Garcia isn't keen. Something doesn't add up anyway.
He stalled over a new deal last summer and only signed because of the injury. I think he'll be gone even if we offer him a new deal.
I don't think the implications of that are very fair. He only stalled because he wasn't convinced of first team football and home was calling. And obviously he would sign if he got an offer from any club despite an injury. Upon meeting him I'm quite convinced that he's loved his time at the club and as with last year, he's in a bit of a dilemma as to whether he should stay in Hull or end his career at home.
I think they're both just covering themselves under all this uncertainty. If he signs, then great. But if he goes, Garcia looks as though he's leaving reluctantly, whilst Barmby looks as though he was happy for Garcia to stay but the player decided to leave.
I tend to agree with most of ^^^^ this. Ive been critical of Garcia from the Crawley cup game but confess that he has more than played his part overall here. Since he came back into the side recently he is back to something like and for the money City would need to offer him they wont get any better from elsewhere. Worth another year as he can also cover Rosie at full back and both wings as well as up front. A 4 in one player is worth the brass and to think we may have to let him go Just proves how dire Dufferman really was with his player contracts. Come on City give him one more year and let him go / finish here on a high note. Fingers crossed. never say never.
You never know, we still may offer him a contract. Anybody with sense can see he is decent player. Why take the risk getting a new player in ?
