Charity football competition? £5 a player to enter the competition, a couple of 11 a side teams and also could incorporate the bake sale with this as well. You could try and get a 5 a side place or get the council to allow you to play on a pitch and borrow some nets from a team which is going to play...

Would be worth having a charity match with the Sunderland fans and they can give money to support Lezaes or their lad with us giving the money to Leazes.

I'd travel for that. Would have to make it in between Newcastle and Sunderland....say....Newton Aycliffe <laugh>

In all seriousness I would definitely be up for it, would be great to get to see everyone and have a good game of football for a great cause. I'll start by saying I'm a right back...

Something like that had crossed my mind. A few people doing a sponsored swim with x amount per lap from friends and family and any members of the public whose imagination was caught by it.

I would do a couple of laps, I used to do 1 mile a week not so long ago (although it did take me about 50mins). It would also be a good time for a cake stall and things...

Could get some of the lady members to bake a cake or two to sell from stalls.

Of course if we all donated the price of a pint, that would make a massive difference too.

Cakes! Home made wine more like it, lol.

We tried to do something like the footie match when Janie died but nowt ever came of it.

Will still chip more in like when pay day rolls up.

No problem.

This thread has had almost 1300 views.

If everyone had donated a miserable single quid look at what would have been raised.

Not even the price of half a pint man, a pound.

I haven't donated but will, is there a time limit on these types of things.

No, you're the mod marra.

Syd put mine up for Janie. Janie died in early December & we just kept bumping it untill I asked him to let it go which was end of February.

We raised almost £1400 for cancer research.

I will definately put more in after pay day but it might be worth sending Leazes a PM & ask him how long he wants to keep it going for.

I don't see any reason why it can't go on as long as he wants.

Janie's thread will be way, way down our board now but if someone can find it they can still donate marra.

I think it'll take a visit from cbra's Uncle Ebeneezer to make him give a donation Billy.

I'm not saying that he's tight fisted but when he went to get his fortune told at the Town Moor, the gypsy couldn't get his hand opened to see his palm.

Still got white fivers then has he?

I'm not gonna moralise here like but like I say nee **** is gonna miss a quid are they?

Nee problem with anyone who just doesn't want to do it either.

Thing is though, putting things like this up is often not about saving your own as it's all too often far too late by then.

No, it's about stopping someone else going through the same thing. Thinking of others if you like.

Ah, I thought it was strange that it suddenly disappeared, thank you for clearing that up. I'll have a look when I donate for Leazes.

Well it was never stickied as Syd cross boarded it with you lads.

A lot of people said they got paid at the end of the month so I told Syd to keep it going until then.

It was allowed to drift off after that but stilll got the odd donation mate.
