Update:

My mam has rejected the chemo that was on offer to her and we have all agreed. It will make her feel worse and we would rather she spent her last days at home. We still don't know how long.

As for the auction, I can no longer guarantee a Sunderland away ticket but we did receive a signed shirt.

We got the shirt via my mam's friend's brother who works at the training ground. However, we had sent loads of emails and letters and we got a reply via email which said 'sorry, you have been unsuccessful this time'. I'm fuming at that remark, making out like its a ****ing audition. I put my life into that club and haven't missed a game home or away in years, my choice yes, but to treat this like an audition is a joke on their behalf!

Typical kind of thing you seem to get from our back room staff. Seems as if they don't give a toss about anything or anybody. Treat the fans like peasants a lot of the time. <grr>

Leazes mate, why does there have to be a target marra?

Syd did the one for my Janie & I never recall there ever being a target.

We ended up with almost £1300 thanks to a lot of people.

Just keep it going mate, will chip in again when I get the chance lad.

I hope to God things take a turn for the better.

PM me if you want, maybe we can arrange something.

All the very best.

Is that your latest dolly bird in your sig pic Billly? Has she got a sister??

Come on guys, you don't have to donate a fortune to this cause, every little counts and is appreciated.

Just add what you can afford.

Sorry to hear about this Leazes! My mate had of cancer just over a year ago now and its devastating. I will donate at the end of the month 100%.

A couple of ideas to raise money

A bake sale (50p a cake outside St. James' last game of season)

Collection pots at local bars (for loose change, it's quite amazing how much loose change you can get sometimes)

Organised Bar Crawl? I went on one when my mate had terminal cancer, we contacted quite a few pubs and clubs and if you were wearing the Bar Crawl t-shirt (which was £8 if I remember rightly) then you got in free and a free shot with you first drink purchased.

Charity football competition? £5 a player to enter the competition, a couple of 11 a side teams and also could incorporate the bake sale with this as well. You could try and get a 5 a side place or get the council to allow you to play on a pitch and borrow some nets from a team which is going to play...

Also when will the auctions go ahead?

Also Leazes, don't you work as a lifeguard at a local pool? Could you not manage to do something like an event there?

Also probably won't make the most money, but I have a Jason Steele England U21's top which he signed which you can have if you want. See if any Boro fans would be interested in it?!

Something like that had crossed my mind. A few people doing a sponsored swim with x amount per lap from friends and family and any members of the public whose imagination was caught by it.
