Agreed. I mentioned Grant McCann weeks ago and he scores goals. He had 9 goals by christmas i think. Good penalty taker. Sadly he would command a large fee at the moment unless they wanted Aaron Mclean back ? As for Taylor, he would also be worth a punt and has more talent than Ricky Lambert. One for the future.
9 players whos contracts end @ Hull City in the summer AND at least 2(out on loan) who the club will try to get off the books at last would not be a surprise. Thats 11 gone and replacements needed.. Less is sometimes more when dealing with quality. Time for a few of the kids to step up and make up the squad now. That Dillon lad looks very impressive, imo.

As the article about Peterborough demanding £2m for him as already been posted on this thread, his contract quite obviously doesn't end this summer.

Not sure if this rejection will affect his work permit issues though. Joe Lewis would deffo be a good signing and yet another FREE transfer player. Proven at this level already behind a poor defence. I still would not rule out Vito. But something will have to change re. the fee. Arsenals valuation of a keeper they want rid of is crazy. Maybe Vito can engineer something to get away IF he is that desperate to play for Hull City.
Not read it. I thought his contract ended in the summer ? Even IF he has a year left it wont add up to much. Under FIFA regulation article 17 otherwise know as the Webster ruling TAYLOR can implement that to get away. Peterborough wont get anywhere near 2m for him.

Its not nonsense and Yes players could use it subject to when current contracts were signed.(Specifically, it states that any player under the age of 28 Can buy himself out of the remaining part of the contract he has left,,, 3 years after the deal was signed)
This i would accept applies more to Vito Mannone than Paul Taylor(who signed an 18 month deal on 18/feb/2011 with the Posh).
IF Hull City were actually interested in Paul Taylor maybe we could offer them Jay Simpson in part exchange ? just a thought like.
Looking at the Wiki page for Taylor he only signed an 18 month contract. I've not read the full article 17, but from the little I know they need to have served 3 years before they can look to buy themselves out of their contract (2 years if over the age of 28). So I can't see that Taylor would be able to invoke that.

Arsenal signed Vito Mannone for £350,000 compensation from Atalanta on a 3 year deal and then on 19th December 2007 Arsenal signed Vito to a further long term improved contract. So he has had that for more than 3 years and Vito can now Implement Article 17 if he so wishes to do so.

Is it the amount of time the player has been with the club, or the length of the contract? I thought it was the length of the contract, which would mean that, as he has only served 2 years of his current contract he would need another year before being able to invoke it?

Of his current Arsenal contract Vito has had over 3 years of it. So Yes he can now (if he so wishes to do so) buy out the remainder of the contract(2 years left). Its not as if Arsenal wany to keep Vito. Vito confirmed himself many times that they want rid of him and he wants to leave. £350,000 - £500,000 should be more than enough.
This 7 figure fee they are asking is a nonsense. Now how much Vito's remaining 2 years are worth I dont know but its a road thats worth going down IF Arsenal stick to there silly asking price.

Hypothetically, could he invoke it now due to him having been at the club for over 3 years, or would he have to wait until another year has passed on his current contract before he could buy himself out of it?
If a player doesn't move clubs, he's technically extending/revising his existing contract, so for legal purposes I assume his contract starts from when the first one was signed.
