As far as I can see he is a very talented lad who is exciting to watch and will only improve with experience.

One of the aspects of his game that I would be pointing out to him if I were his coach is that he shouldn't be trying to take on too many players when he recieves the ball on the halfway line. A lot of the time he is taking on players from the halfway line and then loses the ball before he arrives anywhere near the penalty box. That gives the opposition a free attack against us...

When McClean recieves the ball at the halfway line he should concentrate on holding the ball and looking for a pass inside to the central midfielder and play 1-2's until he approachs the final third of the pitch/penalty box. When he is near the penalty box, that is the time to take on multiple players because there is a much greater probability that we will recieve a free-kick or penalty for the opposition defender bringing him down. There is also the chance he will score from that position too.

Unless there is a lot of space when he recieves the ball he ought to look for the short pass inside so we can retain possession for longer periods of time during our left-sided attacks. That will help us build more pressure and nullify a lot of opposition attacks that could be prevented.

Seems pretty fair to me mate.

I don't think he needs to beat his man generally anyway, his early crossing is as good as when he has space.

    Seems fair to me too.

How many times have we seen him draw two defenders out & still get his crosses in? Loads.

If the lad keeps his feet on the ground then he could become real class.

I agree, he's trying to push us up the pitch, but if he plays a one-two with someone, he's got the defenders running back which will allow us to push up.

His first time ball in is one of the best I have seen, close to Beckham in his pomp.
We need someone with more determination to get in the box than Bendtner to take advantage though.

I have said previously he needs to learn to lay the ball off more often.
Or if the likes of Bridge are off on the overlap to use them. (If he doesn't and loses it we are short on the left side.)
Then only cut inside if Bridge has dragged players away.
He is getting a lot of respect from other teams as evidenced by them doubling up on him.

He is still brilliant but still learning.

If he keeps improving at this rate Billy, we will struggle to keep Fergie off him.

one aspect of mcclean is the fact he is either in a one on one due to the team having to double up on ses...which means he can attack that side and get the cross in (like at QPR)

or he is double marked which is whre mon should be telling him to get the ball in early or pass it across the attack because it means sess and larrson will be one on one
