I've given it it's fair share of time. It has potential but the fact that it stops so often and for so long really does my head in, and it's name.
Granted, the ad breaks can get rather frustrating. I love the tactical side of the game though. So many nuances and different approaches.
I've been playing bowls for 14 years and I quite enjoy it. Theres a lot of tactical thinking involved and the occasional opportunity to chuck the things as hard as you possibly can. That being said I can't stand watching it. In fact, most sports I've played I struggle to watch because I'd rather be playing. If I had to pick one though it'd be Women's tennis. They serve, smash it back and forth from the baseline and scream a lot. At least men's tennis has more movement and less screaming.
Tennis can't stand it firstly I'm not having being told to be quiet by some pompous prick, Tim Henman typifies what is wrong with the British publics obsession with mediocracy in sports. To boot I used to work in a office full of Spaniards and Frogs who used to have an absolute tossfest when Wimbledon started, the mandatory Sky Sports News on the floors tv was removed in order for them to watch the BBC coverage of this overrated sport.
Good call it looks as depressing as **** too, the events look like they are held at some leisure centre in Penge.
Watching paint dry is so much more exciting than this boreing ****e sport, not that it should even be classed as a sport really? imo
Don't know if its been done already(cant be assed to trol through the other three pages) but i HATE golf with a ****ing passion!!!! The big yin got it spot on when he said "golf....what a way to spoil a good walk" You hit the ****er miles in any given direction......then you walk over to it and hit the ****er again !? wtf
I think you'll find he said it was a good "****" spoiled Dave. Although nothing could spoil a good **** of course.
I went to the British GP at Silverstone in 1966.It was interesting to see people such as Graham Hill,Jim Clark Etcbut I agree that it's rubbish as a spectator sport.
I actually like American Football, don't follow it as much as I used to but in my teens (when it used to be on Channel 4 of a Sunday evening) I used to be well into it. I follow the Redskins as the guy who used to live next door who got me into it was a fan of their's, and the first Superbowl I watched was when they destroyed the Broncos's at some point in the late 80's. I personally don't subscribe to the "it's all stop/start" mantra as a lot of sports I love have regular intervals - cricket, tennis and golf for example. I know it's not a sport, and I would never attempt to argue that it is as I fully accept it's technically 'entertainment', but I'm a pretty big fan of the WWE. I've dipped in and out of it over the past twenty years, but I've been back into it for a couple of years or so and have to say if you can see past how staged it all is then it really is good value (if you like that sort of thing of course ). The wrestling page on the old 606 is the thing I miss the most since this place is thriving, used to have some absolutely cracking banter on there
What, not even your nan walking in as you're "coming up to the Billy Mill roundabout"? (definition courtesy of Roger's Profanisauras)
