Daryl Duffy was 3-4 inches off a debut goal. He signed under Parky if I remember correctly. I might be mixing him up with McPhee.

Anyway, the game was away vs WBA on the first day of the season. We could have won that and had we held on vs Barnsley then there might have been a different story to Parky's career here

It's maybe a good thing that it lead to Phill Brown having the opportunity to work his magic then isn't it!

If we have to get rid of the high earners first then it will be a long, slow transfer window this summer.
No club will come rushing early, if at all, due to their high wages.
Olofinjana, McShane and Ghilas can sit around for another season. We can't force them out.

Indeed, I included him by mistake because his name was mentioned earlier in the thread.

Duffy and McPhee were both signed under Brown and he was signed in January making his debut against Crystal Palace.

McPhee signed for us in 2005, Duffy in 2006 - No way that was under Brown. 2005 would make McPhee a Taylor signing, Duffy I think came in in the same batch as Turner.

Sorry I meant Taylor for both. God knows why I wrote Brown.

What I originally wrote was right - Duffy was the January 06. Turner the summer after, McPhee the summer before. I just put the wrong name.

Kilbane is out of contract so is already gone, Ghilas is currently top scorer in the French 2nd division so his stock has risen and all of them are not into the final year of their contracts and may well take a cut to get a longer deal, I think we've far more chance of shifting them all in the summer.

Who says its safe to say our best players will go in the summer ? ffs, get a grip or feck off. utter nonsense. The Allams have not bailed us out for £51m quid to see all the good work given away. We need some finishing touches not a complete re-build as some would have you beleave.

Erm......utter nonsense. as for the replacements for the players whos contracts run out in the summer well I would like to see these

Vito and Elden (as our 2 GK)

    Anthony Gerrard*
    Jabob Butterfield*
    Gareth McCleary*
    Darius Henderson
    Kevin Davies*

    *Free transfers.

NB. If Nick can tempt KD to the club he would be exactly what we lack now. Think his PL days are now over.

But my guess is that NB already has his targets lined up for the summer.

I would guess that McShane will sign for Crystal Palace and Ghilas for the french club saving the club approx 35k a week in wages for starters. Add to that the players who's contracts end this summer and that should be about 90-100k a week saved in wages.

I can only see Olifinjana leaving IF sheffield wednesday get promoted. Dave Jones may fancy having Oli back for his midfield.

If someone does sign them we're likely to be subsidising their wages (maybe a spllit the difference between their contract and their new wages).

I don't see us losing many of our better players though. We've been crap for weeks so the scouts will be suitably unimpressed with them.

You really are bitter and twisted. What does it matter that there are new posters. Maybe they are people who have logged on as guests in the past but now find they want to comment on some of the threads. Also it is obviouos that when things are not going quite as well as hoped fans will want to join in discussions with other fans on the board, though I know you probably will find something hateful to say about this as well.

I think that as we have had this problem for all of the season and nothing was done to correct it in January we can safely say it has been missed by the board

What a load of rubbish! You don't half come out with some bullshit!

Davies was wanted by a couple of Prem teams in the Jan window, what makes you think he will be short of suitors in the summer?
McLeary has been offered a bumper deal by Forest (I've read the report in the Nottinghamshire Post, it's my local rag) so even if he does decide to leave Forest he will be way out of our wage bracket.
Butterfield is out with an ACL injury and unlikely he will be back before the start of next season, why would we take a chance on him without seeing how is injury has effected him (look how **** Cam has become).
If Gerrard had wanted to be here he would have stayed in the summer and unless we do lose Chester then he's unlikely to uproot his family to play second fiddle here when he could be first choice somewhere else.

You might as well have dropped in Nicky Maynard for good measure!

Mind you Frenchie, when we win all our remaining games and win the play offs as you still seem to think will happen I'm betting your shopping list includes Ronaldo and Messi?

I am with you on this one. I am not exactly Allam bashing because there is no doubt he has put a lot of money into the club but I remain to be convinced as to whether he is up for getting us the best team possible to try and get into the Premiership. I don't think he is that bothered about football if you see what I mean. I know people have posted that we need to get up there so that he can start getting some money back but I am just confused about him and generally have a bad feeling that I can't quite shake off.
