good read that, he comes across really well. i was gutted when ferdinand left, he could be unbelievably frustrating and there was always the worry he would switch off at a key moment, but he was starting to play pretty well, as he said, and he could play well across the back four. would rather have kept him than some others. wonder what o'neill would have made of him...
You know from reading that article, Steve Bruce seems like an absolute d**k! That is probably why Bent, Gyan, Zenden and Ferdinand all left. I wish Ferdinand didn't leave, his partnership was great with Brown, but then again if he didn't leave MON might not have came as Bruce may not have been sacked....
Good read, cheers. Seems to be an open, honest down to earth guy. Like stated he could be frustrating but did give his all every game.
Wasn't Antons biggest fan but, when they sold him he was playing very well and I thought he'd finally sorted himself out and we should see him get better and better. Then SB sells him totally beyond me bit like his tactics really.
Class read. Love the fact Ricco set him up for the Spurs celebration. Wish him all the best, confident he will get a good reception. Yet more signs of Bruce causing turmoil....
Good read, always good to get the inside story, even if it only goes so far, as you should expect from a current professional. Little thing, just reminded me we have a player, who worked very well for us, hopefully to return to the squad sometime... Wes Brown.
Good read, shame its on Roker Report.........................exploited message boards with self publicity(good article here lads or words to that effect followed by a link to their page). Well hits equal marketing revenue, look at their site now, sponsored links galore, feel exploited?
Felt the need to sign up and address this. I don't really know where you're coming from - we at Roker Report have sometimes spread our work on messageboards, but we've also always said that it was ourselves who wrote the articles. Also your point about 'sponsored links galore' is way off the mark. We get a tiny amount of money to keep the site ticking over, we don't line our pockets whatsoever. That's why we've actually been appealing for sponsorship on our podcast - we need help with bandwith costs and faulty equipment (the podcast was cancelled this week due to faulty equipment when recording). We aren't exploiting people; we're Sunderland fans who put a hell of a lot of our spare time into providing fellow fans with what we like to think is interesting content. Please, if you're going to slag us off, at least do it for something valid.
...From what I have observed; Roker Report is compiled by genuine supporters, who although I certainly don't always share their views, I have never doubted their motives...
Thanks for the interview... I wasn't pleased when Bruce sold Anton. Anton was a great pro... It would have been very interesting to see him playing under the guidance Martin O'Neill.
Agreed, I wasn't pleased when he sold Collins either & the lad has rotted under that horrible **** Pulis.
Cann'y read that like, supprised what he said about Ricky Sbragia, but there we go, what do we know.. ktf
Really good article Chris. Take no notice of the detractors - there are some who are only happy if they are criticising. I read Roker Report occasionally and always find it interesting even if I don't always agree. I don't feel exploited or have any problem with anyone trying to raise enough money to support their online efforts. I suspect many people don't appreciate that 'free' forums and websites actually cost someone, somewhere money for servers and equipment, domain name etc. etc. If it wasn't for people like you and your mates none of us would have the opportunity to interact and communicate across the whole interweb thingy!! Keep up the good work.
Right let's get this correct... Chris you have obviously been reading this board, and the one post has compelled you to open an account to address the matter....am i correct? The rights and wrongs of the post i'm not interested in, how-ever what i am interested in is, now that you are a member will you still be around? Be canny if you were and maybe do some threads and posts and give us the heads up on any stories.. Cheers.
People still blaming Bruce for getting rid of him, defies belief. He got rid purely for financial reasons, he was on good wages, as were all Keane's signings and to get £5 million for a player who could go for free at the end of the season was a no brainer. As much as I liked Anton, I thought as he says he always give 110%, he was far from being the best centre half we had at the time
Actually mate I only saw this because our site lets us see how people are getting directed to our articles. Quite a bit of traffic came from this forum so I had a little look and saw the above comment. I'm not really one for posting on forums but (if I remember/have time) I could certainly pop on now and then with stuff that may be of interest.
"Quite a bit of traffic came from this forum had a little look and saw the above comment." - I rest my case. How many other fanzines mercilessly self publicised like Roker Report - you were all over this board like a rash when you were just starting out, I said at the time you should be good enough to stand or fall without posting the "good read here" with a link to your site. The jet2 link must be a nice little earner? I wonder what Mick thinks about unpaid for links to third party websites? How about a contribution from Roker Report to Not606? And mods - I used to mod a few sites in my time and this type of thing was not welcome, before you brand me miserable(I could brand you naive) I suggest you get Micks opinion this and see if there really is anything in life such as a free lunch - Roker Report are knicking food off your table. Before you know it they will have a message board and where will that leave not606?
Are you thick or just doing a good impression? Firstly, how is the site meant to be noticed if it wasn't initially given a bit of broadcasting. It would be lost somewhere in the depths of the Internet - if you don't want to read it you don't have to, but you can't expect people to spend a lot of time writing things then just posting them up and making no attempt to find an audience. Second, we have no link whatsoever with Jet2. I've already told you, we get a tiny sum of money to keep the site ticking over - that's it. Third, no one from Roker Report actually posted the link for this article here. Someone else, who clearly found it interesting, did so. You sound like you have a bit of a chip on your shoulder and I don't know why - what's wrong?
