My dad passed away last week, I thought I owed him a mention on here as he well & truly was "City til I die". He attended his first game in 1949 at BP, used to take the train from Driffield. His favourite player was Raich Carter. He was responsible for me being a Tiger too. He never saw a match at the KC, when he had the opportunity a few years back he said his heart wouldn't cope with it; I think that sums up how important City were to him. I hope he still sees the games with his angel wings..
Sympathy to you TC, I noticed you'd not been on for a while. I'm sure all of us have experienced something like that and it's not nice. Sad to hear your old man never got to visit the KC as well, especially after all his years of watching City through the crap, getting his lad following the same side, etc, only to miss some of our greatest years with ill health. You'll be alright eventually mate, even if you don't feel like it now.
Condolences TC. I'm probably about the same age as your Dad...started going to BP in 1948 and Raich Carter is also my all-time favourite player. Nothing like him in the modern game. I've been fortunate to see the games at the KC many times and enjoyed the wonderful Wembley win a few years ago. I'm hoping to repeat it this year. My best wishes to you and your family...but I know he'll be watching from the best seat in the house...as we all will some day. RIP.
condolences. my dad had done his time at bp, not as much as some, but he'd been. i used to tell him about games after i'd been as they lived nearer so i'd drive to theirs and walk to the game. he died before we reached the prem. i wish he'd known we got there. maybe he does. even after he'd gone i'd see things at a game and make a mental note to tell him before once more realising i couldn't. be nice to think the passed-on members of the tigernation manage to keep following from wherever they've gone to.
Very sad, the right words are always very difficult to choose, we all have our own way of dealing with the loss of a loved one. My thoughts are with you and your family, very brave and noble to share it with us. Condolences tigercity.
Condolences tigercity on the passing of your dad. He will join my dad and the rest of the tigers with wings looking down on the tigernation.
Sorry to hear about your dad tigercity. Sometimes when you lose someone close it takes time for it to settle in, so go easy on yourself mate.
Deepest sympathy to you and your family and all who knew your Dad TC, Hope all the messages and support from all on here make it just a little easier for you all.
Sorry to hear about your Dad, it seems we had something in common re Raich Carter lets hope he gets to meet him up there. Condolences to you and your family. My dad died in 1946 I still miss him as you will yours even as time passes.
My condolences to you and your family, tigercity. Like yours, my dad started watching City at BP in 48/49. When he started taking me he would wax lyrical about Raich Carter, Viggo Jensen and the team we had then. And like your dad he never made it to the KC and didn't get to see the Tigers in the top league.
Deepest Sympathy to you and your family from myself and my husband. He went to Hull City's first post-war league match aged 8 so is of similar vintage to your Dad and his favourite Tiger player of all time was also Raich Carter.
My condolences to you and your family TC. I'm a bit younger than your Dad and started watching the Tigers at BP around the mid-fifties. I remember Billy Bly, Viggo Jensen, Jock Davidson , Brian Bulless et al. Hope all the messages help at this sad time.
