I was listening to City on Five Live Extra and clicked on the football league link which had the latest Actim index on it. Interesting to see Fryatt 2nd on the pile of strikers and Hobbs well ahead of Chester. In fact neither defender features on the leagues best 5 defenders list. That's quite a surprise, we've got two in the top five in the Championship. Fryatt 2nd best striker in the league. Koren 2nd best midfielder in the league. Rosenior at 17th. Hobbs at 36th. McKenna 82nd. Chester 84th(he might have just jumped a couple of places)
Have you been bookmarking, or have you just been back through all my posts for a year? (No need to answer, I know you haven't) And I stand by what I said, it is bollocks, but it's slightly less bollocky when it works in your favour.
Seemed to remember you writing it off as a load of bollocks once and did a quick Google search to confirm my suspicions! It would be good to know how they actually compile this index. The low position of Ross McCormack suggests it might have a lot to do with distance travelled and amount of possession per player, as well as the high position of other players who you might describe more as workhorses than flair players.
Stats suggest that Fryatt is at least 'half decent' though? Some seem to think he's not worthy of licking Mcleans boots for some reason. Never understood that.
I've said pretty much from day one that Hobbs is s good player and will become a great one. Glad to say it looks like I got that one right. Him and Chester compliment each other brilliantly and over recent months have both been colossal. I honestly couldn't separate the two as far as who is the better and as such I wouldn't swap either for any other centre half in this division.
Hobbs may not be better on the ball but he has come on leaps and bounds this season. He wins every ball in the air despite being relatively small for a centre half and he reads the game incredibly well. Chester is prone to the odd mistake, on occasions misreads the ball. I think chester is the better footballer however as a centre half i rate hobbs as one of, if not the best in the league
These stats are based on things like tackles, clearances, headers won etc. With Evans and McKenna bossing the midfield our CBs hardly need to do anything half the time, so they will come down lower. On the other hand Fryatt playing as the lone striker is constantly on the ball racking up completed passes, dribbles, and covering a lot of ground. I'd say Chester is in the top 5 players in this league, no way is he 84th.
It wasn't so long back people were making a song and dance about how we don't keep a clean sheet whenever Hobbs plays. Gone a bit quiet now I see.
Oops, maybe should have checked that. I honestly didnt think he was that tall, he doesnt look it! Anyway, i still think he is the better centre half. Im stubborn like that you see!
