Kýpur is an island in the sea near Tyrkland and is split between the Grikkir og Turkneskur.

Tonight is icehockey again Ísland and Mexíkó. Yesterday Ísland beat South Afrika 14-2

Evening all from bandit country...<laugh> The Natives are not very happy tonight as they failed to reach the final of another worthless cup....smirking large scale in bandit country tonight..<laugh><ok>

Am I the only one not happy about this country getting involved in someone elses civil war? Why did we not do the same in Rhodesia and now in Bahrain - seems some double standards being applied - could it be that some are making a huge profit in increasing Oil prices?:emoticon-0112-wonde

    Evening all,

I would like to hold my hand up, and take responsibility for the result today. I usually try to schedule my Saturday afternoons so I can sit on the sofa, laptop on lap (where else?!), watching Football Focus and refreshing the 606 page. I boast a 100% success rate when I have done this, and have never witnessed Watford lose. Unfortunately today, I could not partake in my desired series of events due to a "Marriage Preparation" course at Holy Rood (why did I have to agree to marry a Catholic girl?!). I instead spent 8 hours (EIGHT) sat in a church hall "learning how to have the perfect relationship".

But, does anyone else feel almost happy by the defeat? Just because it was Andrew Taylor who scored the winning goal?

wear_yellow - I agree entirely. It does my head in that we stick our noses into everyone elses business. I think it is good that we offer support to other less-able countries, but certainly feel we "support" a bit too much. It is like the US is the Headmaster, UK are the Deputy-head, and the likes of Libya, Bahrain etc. are the naughty kids who never get to finish their GCSE's.

Supergeo - I forgot to reply to one of your posts and can't remember which thread it was! Anyway, don't go for Towers!!! It's a tip!! Imagine living on the 15th floor and then someone setting off the fire alarm (pretty much every night)? Imagine living on the 15th floor and having a 9am lecture? It is bad enough attempting to get up for a 4pm lecture, let alone waking up to the prospect of traipsing down 4,500 steps, only to have to traipse back up them an hour later.

Strangely enough I actually have a sneaking admiration for the way that when it comes down to helping out people in need , the French are quite often to the forefront.

"We would never fire a single bullet at one of our own people" a Libyan spokesman has said on the news. I don't think I believe him.

At present I don't think it is a civil war, more a case of a bully using force to keep himself in power. The civil war might come later if he goes and the east and the west of the country cannot find a political agreement.

Just a humble opinion from your French correspondent. :emoticon-0120-doh:

BBW, you say eight hours. Put them in the bank, let them gain a little interest even.

You do not know at this stage when you might need a couple of hours for a game. ;)

One must admire the French and their attitude to everything, "If it is in our interest we'll do it, if it isn't we wont", rather than the British politicians still being deluded that we are still a world power.
I still do not understand why we are having a go at a former Italian colony, with the French and not the Italians in this case, and we didn't with Southern Rhodesia, or is the Harold Wilson/Ian Smith/cosying up to ZANU/ZAPU thing still going on.

Frenchie, the reason Muamar Gaddafi's forces will fire on their countrymen is they are now traitors to the revolution.

Defeat happy, no - especially as it was "our Andrew" who inflicted the pain.

The Italian leader seems to be having a little local difficulty of his own.

i am also not happy with the defeat, and yes, especially since AT managed to score the winning goal...happy for him, but he should have been on the other side...*big sulky pout*.

BBW...much as it's very honourable of you wanting to take the blame, and obviously your lack of ability to sit on your sofa with your lappy played a huge part in our defeat today, i also think we didn't play as well as perhaps we should have done...and blew it..just when everyone around us was blowing it too! ;) Hey ho, onto the next.

As for the political situation. I agree, i hate when we stick our oar into other countries' business, purely because of what they have that we would lose if we didn't. It's the way of the world i suppose, but countries that have nothing to offer are allowed to get on with their civil wars without any interference from the UN or any of it's member states, yet those with oil are not. Where's the justice!

    Morning All,

The clouds of yesterday have departed overnight and we are back to the blue skies with a promise of a warm day.<cool>

In fact the young lady on the meteo suggested that we will see similar days throughout the coming week. A difference in weather presentation here is that the women all have legs. I wonder if they are chosen for their looks rather than their technical knowledge?:emoticon-0112-wonde

It is the Sunday in the month when the trip to meet friends and have a good dinner has come around again. One of our party is a Forest fan who like me misses outings to see football. When I suggested that he looked at message boards like these, he admitted that he had, but wasn't going to join in with his lot. As an ex teacher his comments about some that he taught are not repeatable. <laugh>

I am afraid you were right folks... last day in India and even worst, en transit, my body succumbs big time..... I had the most horrendous night in a 2nd rate hotel in Mumbai. Thank goodness for some little pills that got me home.

    Anyway no more detail.

Football... thank goodness Forest Burnley and Leeds Lost and Hull drew. Reading creeping up there though.

Hi Yorkie - does this mean you are safely back home then - or still en route?

Have I stepped back in time? Rhodesia - oh come on peoples even I was only a teenager when it changed its name?

Agree though with everyone - UK needs to stop thinking it is some form of Global Policeman and at the very least adopt the French attitude that says only do what benefits us. Perhaps though that is it - Kuwait, Iraq and now Libya - OIL. It is hypocritical to suggest we just care about the poor civilians. Hey ho what it is to have a colonial past and memories f an Empire

On the football front I found I did not really mind too much about the result - I really do not believe we are going to make the play offs - I know that a win yesterday would have put us just behind but my gut feeling is that to get there we would just have to keep winning and nice as that might be it rarely happens - I am just so pleased we have had such a great season and brought through our youngsters and seen Malky gain in strength as a manager and not to have once thought realistically about relegation.

The only fly in the ointment is Bazini

Is odd how we deserted the sinking BBC 606 for the new not606. I come to here first when I switch my computer on. I wonder what will happen if in a year after closing the 606 down BBC opened it again, they would have to stop the 3 minute posting and be open all the day, they have 24hour news and internet so why is the 606 shorter?

On a good news. Ísland beat Mexíkó by 4-3 in period 5 of their ice hockey and are promoted to world cup division II, Both nations had won three and drew against each other so to decide they played on to see who scored first. No goal difference in ice hockey or Ísland would have won easily.

Morning all - and quite a fine morning in bandit country. Looks like I will be spending the rest of the day trying to find somewhere that Mrs W_Y will be holidaying in come the summer. It's proving quite difficult... As Mrs W_Y works in EY education, she wants somewhere with no young children about and I did not fancy a long flight, but it's proving very difficult, so it looks like it will have to be a long flight to either Mexico or the Far East....<cool>
