Since Christmas we have been lacking something from our play, I believe the answer has been sitting on the bench- Ben Arfa. Our defence hasn't been great but we are pretty much stuck with the same defenders. Would tiote and ben arfa work as a diamond midfield?

HBA is not the answer and we do need to stop using hoofball football.
Back to basics, pass the ball to a player on your team, not the other team. Willo and Simmo take note.

our defence is letting in goals too easily, stephen taylor is a huge miss and our 2 full backs aren't upto the job. colo can't do it on his own. unless we sort it quickly the good start to the season will end in mediocrity. we can score goals but we're not gonna win games if we can't tighten up at the back. it will take 3 goals to beat the unwashed

Not both full backs. Santon was great today and continues to improve as he gets used to the English game. Simpson is a liability and will only hinder us as we aim to break into the top 6

Im hardly suprised HBA isn't firing atm. Hes probably become disillousioned with life at Newcastle United. Yes he does need to learn to be a team player but 20 minute cameo roles aren't going to help him

Santon had a good game.
Simpson has made some goal line clearances but gets caught out easily.
Williamson is just dreadful, just hoofs the ball out hoping it will get to a Newcastle player and same when he heads it out.

Watching the highlights from yesterday and I notice Williamson doesn't take charge of the situation. He seems to step back and see what the attackers going to do before deciding how to react.
Saylor dealt with the ball then the player.
With Ben Arfa now, he loses the ball and the opposition end up facing two dithering defenders in Simpson and Willo. That puts Colo and Tiote on edge, added to Santon usually being further up the pitch so we're conceding more.
For me Simpson needs dropped for Santon, and Ferguson brought in at LB. Then Ben Arfa can play on the wing with Raylor offering a more defensive option when needed.

Ben arfa needs to learn, he isnt going to score a goal like against blackburn every week !!!

He needs to learn to pass or keep the ball

Loses the ball about 50/50 times when he has it

Agree and they cant take their foot of the gas. We are going to have to dig in to get a win next Sunday.

To be fair the entire team were doing that yesterday1 at least Benny almost scored twice . I think he's become a target of blame and you know what? he'll go elsewhere and win trophies.

The only reason i feel this has been asked is because of Cabaye poor performace against Wolves.
I really think it was a one off, and he will come back better than ever against Sunderland. :)
