the whole player wage 'structure or policy' has wanted overhaul for several years. It has allowed our best ones to walk away, be demotivated, and a difficulty in attracting the best. The age cap at 30 with a 1 year only contract must also be reconsidered - more and more top players are playing beyond 31 and are considered vital to their clubs.
Gallas ****ed off because he was only offered a one year contract. He ended up at the Spuds where he was given a one year contract.
I think it depends on what you mean by being up for the Spurs game. I don't EXPECT us to win, I'd be surprised if we get anything from it to be honest. If RVP doesn't score who else will ? What midfield will we play ? Our defence cannot keep a clean sheet. There is nothing I see in our current form or this team to make me feel positive about this game ? Are you saying we should feel optimistic ? I want us to win, I just can't see us getting anything from the game. I suspect many Arsenal fans are feeling like this and this is the best Spurs team we have played against in years .. up against the worst Arsenal team Wenger has assembled. I'm not sure I know what you mean by being up for this game.
I am sure Chelsea will be more than happy if the club shared your view on coming 4th this season, I think it is vital to get 4th to help you rebuild and attract the top players. This is why there was such domination from the "old" top 4 for the past 10-15 years, you had the pick of all the best players as you along with Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool could offer them CL football, without that next year do you think players will choose to go to Arsenal ahead of Chelsea regardless of wages, if you are offering Europa League?? I for one am happy that you dont seem to care what happens for the rest of the season, But i have to agree with PISKIE that you should be fighting for and be glad if you get 4th this year.
*A one year contract with the option for a year extension based on the amount of games he played, I believe. Eitherway he's with us until the end of next season now and it'd be nice if he spent some of that time not injured. I think he needed a change though so I think it was the best for you and him if he moved on.
would gallas be out of place in our current defence .... gallas will make a great coach one day, a great defensive coach, the guy is intelligent and knows how to defend, he's been there seen it and done it ... the sitting down episode let him down and wont be forgotten but gallas even now is a better defender then any of our backfour and i dont care if hes 45 yrs old.
The opposite of this : We need to be up for this game as we need to fight for every point we can between now and the last kick of the season.
Still not up for the game, . the sooner this season ends, the better, and we're still only in February, the shame of it all, please make it stop.
You're a gooner, you should be up for every game. Doesn't matter if we're ****e this season, you've got to cheer the guys on.
I think we lost Pires too early though, and I also think we lost something from Bergkamp in his last 3 years by only offering him one year deals.
PISKIE - I still don't know what you mean be being up for the Spurs game, care to elaborate ? I've got a feeling you agree with what I have said but it contradicts what you've been saying and you know it is far fetched to expect people so annoyed by the performances this season to be looking forward to the Spurs game or get fired up for it so you are keeping the meaning ambiguous. Are you saying we should be optimistic of beating Spurs by saying we should be up for it ? Are you saying we should be excited ? Are you saying we should sing and cheer etc ? If it is the latter, we do that already. Far from being fired up for the game, I am worried tinged with fearful.
As fans, players, manager and club - we need to go into this game with the belief and intention to win the game. What I found astounding, was not that people were saying that they weren't confident, but that they were saying that they were not even up for it. That 4th wasn't worth fighting for. To me, that is defeatist.
The most important thing is that our players are up for it - on that score I am very worried as they have shown they cant raise themselves for big games.
