Maybe it's just me, but am I the only one here who is completely unmotivated by the thought of simply having to fight for 4th spot? The fact we only have 4th spot to fight for at the moment is so demotivating and for me is not something to look forward to, or something that puts me up for our upcoming games, am I the only one that feels that way? All the big games we have coming up, Spurs, Newcastle, Pool, Chelsea, City, etc these are very big games, but at the moment I fail to be motivated or up for any of them, as at the end of the day all this amounts to is a 4th spot achievement, which I repeat is not something that greatly excites me or causes me to celebrate. Right now I just can't wait for this season to end, the sooner it ends, the better, and I ask again, am I the only one who feels this way, or are there are other fans who are genuinely excited, motivated, and up for the rest of the season? PS the very fact that we now have to fight for 4th spot and getting 4th as some sort of achievement shows how far we have declined, which again just demotivates, from the invincible, to fighting for trophies, to coming down all the way to fighting for 4th spot, and then we are expected to be motivated and up for this sh!t?
I think teh motivation for fourth is more about the future of the club. To truly rebuild with quality players we need to be in the CL, and to keep our best players we need to be in the CL.
Has to be worth fighting for in my book. It's the difference between Champions League football and nothing.
It would be great to get fourth, CL money and prestige which would attract players, bragging rights etc..
the sad thing is that if we prob get 4th it will only make Wenger more stubborn and have him saying "hey we got 4th spot so we aren't that bad and only need some minor improvements' he will completely spin it to something massively positive.
No, as a Chelsea fan I feel the same. We are not Spurs, 4th is IMO - failure. The only thing that is keeping me going is the FA Cup and chance to get to Wembley and the CL, once that's gone it'll be looking towards May already for me. I've never wanted a season to end so quickly.
Yes, you see, you still have Europe and the Cup which makes your season bearable etc, now imagine both of those being gone (like us).
I don't believe the board hamper him, they give him a budget, which may not be the budget of Madrid, Mancity, Manu etc, but it is a good budget that allows him to bring in quality, he simply decides not to, or decides to bring in very sh!t quality. The board have OPENLY said there is money to spend, and that there is money to even make a super signing in the region of 30 million etc.....There is no board conspiracy, our financial results even testify to this, how can anyone claim there is no money to spend when we are making records amount of turn over and revenue profits? The only area the board can be blamed for is for allowing Wenger to carry on as he has without doing anything about it, after all, why should they pressure Wenger if he's still bringing in record profits? It's Wenger who refuses to buy, and he has openly said it on many occasions, saying should he buy new players that will slow down the progression of the players have at the club etc.
Welcome to the recent life of the Liverpool supporter! We'd probably be grudgingly content with 5th. 4th will probably end up with Chelsea.
We will be out of the CL when Napoli beat us, we're only in it to make up the numbers this year. In previous seasons I've genuinely believed we have a chance of winning it but this year we'll be lucky to make the last 8
Yeap! At the end of the day wherever you stand on the Wenger issue.... SUPPORT YOUR TEAM THROUGH THINK & THIN
Hope you beat Napoli, meaning you have two extra games in Europe which will hopefully affect your league form. Madrid are one of the best counter attacking sides I have seen and Barca are Barca. So I can't see you winning it but hopefully you will have two maybe even four extra games.
What a depressing thread. Arsenal Chelsea and Liverpool fans licking our wounds, looking forward to the end of the bloody season ... in February. Truth be told I was looking forward to the end of the season at the end of August.
