Any team who wants a B team can have one, but I would think it would only be teams in the PL and the Champ who could afford to run one. They would start in the bottom league like AFC Wimbledon/FC United did, I'm not too sure how the bottom league works in terms of replacing teams so would have to figure that out

Why would they bother to spend big money on players just to put them in a league where they would dominate? How would that help anybody? The loan system still exists btw, so say that Chelsea bought a youth player not good enough for the first team for £5 million they could still loan him to a Champ team if they so choosed to.

And the crippling teams with history is quite frankly laughable, go do some research into French, Spanish and German football and see if they have any clubs with history lower down. I think you will find they do and all these countries have B teams in their divisions.

Where am I making this assumption? If anything B teams can help the national team more than the PL as it means more youngsters will be playing competitive football and can reach their potential. If you look at the Spanish national team virtually all of them at some point played regularly for a B team when they were younger.

Looking at it from a FL perspective, not every player who comes through a PL academy/B team will be good enough for that PL club. They will develop at this club then the other FL teams can see how he does in a competitive environment and have a better understanding of how good that player is. If the B teams were to reach the FL (which I'm not denying some will) there could be an entry fee charged by the FA, say £1 million a season to play in that league from the parent club. This money could then be split between the rest of the division aswell.

The beauty of it is because it hasn't been implemented before they could make whatever rules they wished and could pick and choose the best rules from other countries who have made a success of it.

And how well supported are the lower leagues in these countries? Our FL (especially the Championship) is well supported because these clubs have local links. What support would Chelsea B have? Chelsea fans would watch the main team and very few would watch Chelsea B..why would you..it's not a proper team.

Seriously your not getting it, say ten prem teams do b teams. Them b teams would slowly rise up the leagues causing other teams to get religated. This would mean less income bringing on admin etc.

As for bringing up the spanish league as a good example you must be joking. Nearly every team has crippling debt and some will fold soon. Teams like Barca and madrid with their b teams have killed the spanish league system.

Id rather have a Luton then a chelsea b anyday.
 
I think you are overestimating how good these B teams will be, they are there to develop young players, so the majority of the team will be players who are unproven at any level and are learning the game playing against seasoned pro's. Sure some of these youngsters will have the potential to be better than the people they are playing against but at that moment it will be a pretty level playing field.

Looking at Barca, who are widely regarded to have one of, if not the best academy in the world, so on this assumption it is fair to say that they would have one of the best B teams in Europe. Their B team plays in the 2nd tier of Spanish football, which is not as strong as the Championship, and some of the sides would struggle in L1. This season they are currently 9th so just above halfway. The only other B side to reach this level this year is Vilareal B and they are one place outside the relegation zone.

How is this different to a club with no history replacing a team with history in the FL? Crawley spring to mind, heavily financed so whoever they replaced in the FL (Lincoln was it?) have got less revenue because of a team with far better finances building a team of players. Like what you said in your earlier post about Prem teams buying an awesome B team.
 
Crawley have history don't they?, they are not some b team purely to make the prem stronger. As for saying b teams wouldn't be as strong as we think. Take a look at man city, i'm sure if they had a b team they would heavily invest. They could have a b team better then most champiinship teams.

I'll end the discussion there, you have your views I have mine.

AVB is a joke of a manager.Moan,moan,moan,cry,cry,cry he hasn't won anything in England because he is out of his depth,doesn't get on with the players,thus causing his team to underachieve.
He isn't good enough to manage a conference team let alone a premier league one.Go back to Portugal and bribe your way to sucess with FC Porto.

Again it all depends on the classification of the rules for B teams, if there were something like an 8+3 rule for English players then it would be very much a homegrown team and there wouldn't be massive investment in the team, maybe the academy, but that happens already. Anyway as you say we will have to agree to disagree.
 
I'm not sure I follow any of the benefits of a B Team. Good effort in trying to be constructive though.

To me if you stick a B team in the conference leagues, they will still have to work there way up. No proven quality players are going to want to play in that division and the youngsters won't be good enough to get out of that league in themselves. surely it's better that the youngsters are loaned to Championship / league one teams for a season or two to develop at a higher standard with older heads to guide them.

It would also take years for them to get up to a higher standard by which time the youngsters will have grown and up got first team football at their parent club or moved on, so the cycle would continue with youngsters playing at a level that would not benefit them.

The only way a B team could work is if they were placed straight into the championship where the parent club could place their reserves and a mix of youngsters but there are many many arguments as to why this is unfair and quite frankly not sporting.

Can you imagine Saints getting relegated to league one again to accommodate Man Utd B !
