Wow what a 10 years wonder if our very own daily fail will do something on the same scale.
A decade on from the club’s darkest hour, how Hull’s Tigers almost became extinct

TEN years ago, Hull City were locked in a fight for survival that was only won when Leeds United’s commercial director Adam Pearson bought the club in partnership with Harrogate-based internet entrepreneur Peter Wilkinson. The takeover brought to an end a trying few years for the Tigers that had included several winding-up orders, boardroom wrangling, the staff going unpaid for several months and the club being locked out of Boothferry Park. Here, in the first of a two-part look back to a time when the Tigers came close to being shut down, Richard Sutcliffe charts the build-up to Pearson’s arrival through speaking to manager Brian Little, midfielder Gary Brabin and long-serving stadium manager John Cooper. A little time back we were discussing a museum for the Tigers' history, and, this would be a "must" item. The individuals concerned telling the story as an audio display item.
Having only moved to Hull in 2002, this feature in the YP has given me a bigger insight to the problems the Club overcame than anything else I have read!

I've still have one of them "HCAFC we'll support you ever more" cards they handed out round Fer Ark before the Leyton Orient match. Nice bit of City memorabilia.

    Great post btw.

I don't live in the HDM area so don't see the rag. But there is no mention on the website and it wouldn't surprise me if there was nothing in the HDM. That rag is good at handing out cards (with their name prominently displayed) like those mentioned, or the Thrilla At The Villa etc but not so good at being interested in City matters otherwise.
The Yorkshire Post regularly carries better articles, which are more well-written, on City.

Our local rag are terrible at this sort of thing, it's because they employ no City fans at all.

The quality of the journalism in the Yorkie Post is in a different class(mainly because there are no journalists at the Fail), though on a week to week basis they tend to show a massive White ****e bias.

that is a fascinating read, I remember it all very clearly actually. the occasion of the orient game was something else, despite it being pretty fraught at the time I actually look back in on it fondly.

nice reading brabin's comments there, I think he's very fair to be proud of the part his group of players played in getting city to the premier league.

As a minor shareholder I was at the meeting with the Administrators that day at the Jarvis Hotel (and spoke with John Cooper) and remember well that Nick Buchanan was refusing to give up his shares inthe Club till he knew who the new owners were.

He was told that what we now know was Adam Pearson, refused to give him that information in fear that should 'his' offer not be accepted he would still have a job as Commercial Director at TWS.

The tension in the room was unbelievable.

The rest they say is history.

I agree with you wholeheartedly and yes that rags name is on it somewhere. I was a young kid back then and it's only a keep sake of a by gone era. Just like the ticket stubs and programs i used to collect.

The articles are brilliant they've excelled themselves.

Nobody needs to defend Adam Pearson's achievement at this football club - certainly not to a pr*t like TWF.

As I said earlier I was at the meeting at the Jarvis Willerby when the Administrators announced the Club had new owners.

Looking back it was certainly a momentous day and the moment when the sleeping giant that is Hull City Football Club woke from its slumbers with a vengeance.

i remember these grim days, despite being pretty skint during that time, I was at Boothferry Park for more or less every home game the rest of that season. Its hard to believe its ten years since then and how far we've come
