There are murmurings of something happening at #SaintsFC as well, although that too is shrouded in mystery.

Well something is happening, I expecting someone to sign today!

On loan deals the home club often pay part of wages...probably Cortese wanted them to pick up more of the tab. Perhaps Stoke were being unreasonable, but I agree that Cortese could be penny pinching. Bear in mind that lots of deals fall through at the last minute...not just us...but Adkins smile must be getting a bit strained.

I don't know that we can necessarily lay blame at Cortese's door without having genuine knowledge of the whys and wherefores. As has been stated here before, he's a very, very astute and intelligent man, as well as a successful businessman. For that reason alone, I'm happy to take what he does on trust as best for the club, unless I find out *for certain* any different.

Why doesnt this surprise me? Cortese has something bad about him for so many deals to fall through in one season

Or perhaps it's because we have a wage structure and we stick to it. Why should we pay a 31 year-old more than he deserves?

Football agents try and get as much money for their players as possible. In case you hadn't noticed, we aren't a club down that road that are, and have been up sh*t creek for years because of overpaying on wages.

Financial Fair Play rules come in next year too I beleive.

Leicester close to signing Collins according to SSN. Not overly bothered tbh, would of liked him here but not the end of the world. Definitely wouldn't want to pay him a massive wage that he doesn't deserve - especially considering he wouldn't be first choice.

On the other hand however, I'm almost positive that we'll sign Sharp.

Probably right...Collins is likely on fairly hefty wages, more than he'd be worth to the side if Stoke expect us to pick up the majority of the tab. I don't mind walking away, so long as we have other targets; CB isn't nearly as pressing simply because we can probably find someone in the loan window capable of providing cover, if necessary.
