Another boring day of rumours involving everyone but Southampton as I constantly trawl the internet and this site for any glimmer of a big signing. I am not moaning I am trying to incite some saints news lol.
Heard on radio solent this morning and subsequently seen in todays Echo. That Saints are leading the race for the signature of conference side Fleetwood's striker Jamie Vardy. Apparently hes 25 years old. scored 21 goals already this season. Apparently, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Leicester, Blackpool, Celtic and Rangers have also been linked with him too. If we did suceed in getting him he would then have to be loaned back to Fleetwood for the rest of the season. Not too sure what to make of this I don't know anything about him, so don't know how he would fit into things with the clubs ambition to reach the prem. Seems like a strange one to me. Just thought I would post what I have seen.
Wouldn't be happy with that. Tried and tested is what we need. Lee & De ridder were gambles so that will do on that front i think.
What's wrong with it? Assuming we get someone else as well, buying a future prospect is good business isn't it? Think of him as the next Aaron Martin!
Look at Steve Morison of Norwich. 4 years ago he was playing non league and now he is a leading Prem striker
I mean future as in not with right now in mind. If he's a good player, who can do a job for us next season, I don't care that we aren't getting him now. Would you rather wait and let another team snap him up?
For once I agree with AdamBanana. I don't want Vardy here, he is a 25 year old non league player who has had a great half a season at Fleetwood. If he was 21 or younger then it would be a different story.
Two good feet, skillful and fairly quick apparently. He obviously knows where the goal is too. I'm not too worried about his age, plenty of young players fall through the net early on and come back strongly.
Why doesnt this surprise me? Cortese has something bad about him for so many deals to fall through in one season
