I see Wenger has landed him on a short term loan. Surely he has to be past it for the Premiership. Got me thinking though. Any of our old boys you would want to see back? Should we tempt Le God out of retirement!
Disaster, he should never have gone back. He should have kept that chapter closed. It will all end in tears, mark my words. He'll be rubbish for them, his been out of the Premier League loop for too long now. The lasting impression will be that he's slow, off form and generally crap - not good for his legacy, especially after a statue in his honour has just been unveiled. Remember Keegan's return to manage Newcastle... Expect something similar to come out of North London... I feel sorry for Henry, going back is a big mistake
I think anyone that goes back to an old club is just desperate/admitting it was a mistake to leave in the first place!
One of my friends is an Arsenal fan - he says it was great news to hear Henry being in training with the Arsenal lads because it would obviously be a morale boost and he'd have so much to teach the younger players with his wealth of talent and experience. However, to sign him to the actual squad is disastrous because he just won't be good enough any more and should be there in nothing more than a non-player capacity. I can't see him being wrong.
If I was a Premiership centre back I would be rubbing my hands with glee. Surely he will be well past it.
So a 34 year old striker that has been playing at the very top level for his whole career signs for arsenal as cover for chamakh who's rubbish and gervhinio who is not alot better and its being described as disastrous. I actually think he will do a very good job for Arsenal and i don't see in any way how it can be a bad thing for them.
The very top level for his whole career except the last three years of either playing 5 minute sub games or playing in the MLS... yeah he's not a top of the Premiership level striker. And for the record Gervinho is a good player, he just lacks finishing confidence. RVP wouldn't be doing as well without him, and he's one of the best in the world.
He he Gerviniho can run but he is the worst finisher in the prem and his passing skills are about as good as Billy the Limpits so to call him a good player is like saying bentdner is the best player in the world oh hang on bentdner is the best player in the world. sorry ignore what i just said.
121 apperances in his 3 seasons at barcelona and 32 of those in his last season seems pretty good to me, i agree majority might of been as sub but but thats still an impressive record for such a DISASTROUS signing
Henry has lost pace but strikers do not lose their finishing instincts. I think its a good move - he will provide adequate cover for Van Persie
Rickie hasn't got much pace but he still has the vision and the unbelievable tekkers. Le Tiss didn't run but everyone knows what he could do. I agree that he should never have gone back, but I'm 50/50 whether it will work out or not. We shall see I guess.
I find it funny how people are writing him off already and saying he will be rubbish. Time will tell...
His last season hardly counts, loads were off the bench. Even so 4 goals in 32 games is horrendous - so what is it, are they signing somebody who hasn't the fitness to play often, or are they signing someone who in a good league (MLS, not the bloody La Liga) can't hit the back of the net to save their life?
And on the Gervinho front, for crying out loud give the lad time to settle. He was excellent at Lille, and has been directly involved (goal or assist) in 9 goals in 17 games. Hardly setting the league alight but Dzeko got 2 in 15 his first season in England and who would take him now?
[IF Rickie was to be unavailable for a protracted period, I wouldn`t mind having Kevin Davies on loan.
Thierry Henry was my favourite player when I was a few years younger and was a real player. Excellent an was the best in the world. Everything he is was unpredictable and outstanding!
tbf i don't think his last season at barca makes him horrendous he was playing in prob the best club team ever in the world, so the fact that he only scored 4 goals in what was prob 32 sub appearances is nothing to be ashamed of, i would be interested to see what his goal to minute ratio was i bet it was pretty impressive. On another note see he made the MLS team of the year last season, not bad for an old timer.
