Someone posted on CI recently, that we'd held talks with Michael Turner, I didn't read too much into it as he played most of Sunderland's games in October and November, before picking up a groin strain and I couldn't see him going anywhere.

CI have now put up an article suggesting we have indeed held talks with him.

Return of the prodigal son?

We might have a chance if Martin O'Neil doesn't rate him. I'd love to have him back although may take him a few weeks to get into the side. Why don't we bring Deano back in as well

I know Chester's on four yellows, but would be hard to drop him or hobbs at the minute. And if we did, wouldn't it just persuade one of them to leave us for another club. Pearson would love to come in and poach an unsettled Chester. The article doesn't indicate whether its a loan or permanent. If it's a loan for him to get back to fitness then would he necessarily get into the team, I know he is arguably a better player than hobbs and possibly chester, but like I say would be harsh to drop either. For me it would make more sense to loan someone who realises they might not get loads of chances.

Turners far too good to be back up for us. At the same time i don't see either Chester or Hobbs being dropped for any one. Maybe one of them is leaving. I would say Chez is the best defender of the three. But Turner adds a goal threat.

They don't need anyone off us, they've already got Kilgallon. <laugh>

Actually, Kilgallon is now back in the first team squad under O'Neill.
The CI article says "speculation continues to link City with a Sunderland defender.." so surely this is more likely to be Kilgallon than Turner who had a lot of other Premiership interest before moving to Sunderland and prbably still would have?

Yes but the article also says:

"Whether City can pull off a deal to bring Michael Turner back to the Circle though, remains open to conjecture."

I can't see it happening, Sunderland will want at least £3m for him, and I also imagine Turner's on around 20,000p/w so he'd have to take a massive pay cut to come to us.

That's right, so reading between the lines the only solid information CI have is that City have talked to an unknown Sunderland defender.

I REALLY cannot see this happening.

Why on earth would Mike want to drop down to the Championship? Premiership players will fight tooth and nail to avoid that unless they are too Old or too shyte, and he is neither.

More rumours than chavs in Millwall. Just hope this has legs, a very very long shot.....but anyway something must have occurred, so in my present alcoholic state I'll drink to it!! UTT :) :) :)

This is literally too good to be true.

Surely a complete non story.
