Taking the red and white specs off and putting them on the table in the corner why would any serious player want to sign for them at the minute?
For a start, players are leaving - Gordon's gone, Trippier has gone. There's stories that Tonali, Hall, Wissa, Waltemade and Elanga want to leave. There was speculation that Howe may be sacked towards the end of last season and it hasn't really been rebuffed, just announced that he's here for next season. They were the team that lost the most points from winning positions last season which suggests there's something wrong somewhere. Players want to play in Europe and they're not there next season. They didn't show any real fight in the 2 derby games and their nearest rivals have now surpassed then after 8 years in lower leagues and are now in Europe themselves. The hierarchy are quibbling over money with perspective signings and those signings have gone into play for other teams. - Trafford to Man City, Ekitike to Liverpool and now Munoz to Liverpool - that hardly sounds like a club that are pushing the boat out to get a player there.
Now putting those red and white specs back on. I hope it continues for a long time!
Good post and nothing but common sense.
The Mags, despite winning virtually nowt, have always thought they were a big club. Keegan reinforced that idea and playing in Europe made them believe they were world class. When the Saudis bought the club they, and their owners to be fair to them, believed they were unstoppable.
Oops.
They’re now finding out the geographical reality that they’re seen as a stag night city too far from London. We all love the NE but we’re realistic enough to know that we’ll always be a big town on the far NE coast that has spirit and heart.
Newcastle isn’t the glamorous shopping/clubbing/jet setting capital of anything except Tyneside. I’ve said it before, they’re the most entertaining neighbours we could wish for …
… the kind of people who have a ten year old BMW, but never gives it a proper overhaul. Instead they change the grille & wheels and put a meaningless private plate on it.
Meanwhile the Sunderland fan keeps their’s well maintained and concentrates on the mechanics, not just the appearance.
Only one is heading for a breakdown
