Can’t blame him at all if all we were offering was a one year deal, he’ll get a better offer elsewhere. Probably the right decision by all parties tbh.

Shame. That's a new signing needed. I wonder who's available.

The contract extension thing is a bit crap but I'm not going to get too annoyed with him for that. It might suggest he wasn't that keen to stay anyway, which is interesting. As someone said elsewhere, it's a gamble for him. If he injures himself at the World Cup he may be out of contract for a long time.

Assume that means we need another striker. Larin, Archer and BBD (if you count him as a central striker) the only senior ones we have on the books for next season.

Probably livid about how the season ended. He won’t be the last to leave, he just had an easy get out with his contract up.

Well this is really annoying. I have no faith in our ability to replace his quality or goals given our track record with strikers. Hopefully he doesn't just go to one of our competitors in the Championship and goes to a club in Scotland or something instead.

Think it’s pretty nailed on he’ll be going to another Champ team, question is who. Outside chance of one of the promoted sides as well, would be a good backup option for McBurnie I think

I'm honestly not that fussed about him leaving. Good player but he's nearly 30 with a wretched injury record. Hopefully with the signing of Larin SR have ended their record of buying absolute turds for strikers once and for all.

I hear it, I’m just being a typical sad and fickle football fan <laugh>

Gutted to see him go! Thought he could be in for a big season with us. If he ends up at one of the promoted teams then fair enough, totally understand

And? We should have triggered the extension before the play offs started.
I may have this completely wrong but didn't Dragan say that being thrown out of the playoffs messed up the process? There was a short window (to offer an extension) that opened after the last game of the season which would have been the playoff final. When we got excluded the last game became the semi final which meant the window had already closed. Saints approached Stewart's agent who told them they were too late.
If that is wrong I apologise, but I don't think Saints were at fault.
