I'm trying to think why it 'means even more' to Skunks than other teams' shirts mean to them/us . . . . it must be 'cos they're the best fans in the world :emoticon-0112-wonde

Is it ****, you stupid, deluded black & white bastards :emoticon-0136-giggl
They need something to wear on those special occasions in life Gordon, holidays, weddings, funerals, court appearances :emoticon-0136-giggl

I was going to type a reply to the letter on smugs post then saw this and thought no way can I beat that <laugh><laugh><laugh>

Serious delusion up there. According to them their shirt, their strikers, the no.9 shirt, the stadium, the city, the flags, the history, the away kit, the songs (if they have any) and the passion are far more important than any other club in the world.

Ok then.
Best of it is there is only one north east club that have had a striker win the EUROPEAN golden boot/shoe. <laugh>

I thought last season we’d heard all the reasons why we would fail.
But , apparently, our next problems are just around the corner because
1) so many players are leaving the club
2) we won’t have much of a pre season because of all our African players being at the World Cup.
Not our problem , but when England team is listed , Anthony Gordon, hasn’t kicked a ball yet for Barcelona , so should be named “ of Newcastle” not “ of Barcelona”
As I’ve said before , I just don’t bother engaging with mag relative

Beat me to it I was just about to post that that top reminded me of a seatcover that was on the school bus from craster to seahouses in the seventies!Surely it must have been designed by a Sunderland fan?Its really funny that the seat cover above is better than the new top!

They're so desperate for a hero aren't they?

I remember when Micky Quinn was there and became 'an adopted Geordie' despite playing more games for Portsmouth.

When he was prosecuted for cruelty to horses they dropped him like a sack of lard ...

... looking back it was just a sign of things to come <laugh>

Ah Barry, I used to work with him in the early 2000s

Aye cause teams who have the majority of their first team squads at World Cups always struggle.

They are upset about their shirt. You can understand that.

But, in a spirit of togetherness, compassion for the wounded and brotherly love I have come up with a solution which I'm certain they will all be very happy with up there.

They love their history, as do we all. So what could be better for them than returning to the original strip they wore when they joined the League?

Which, as not many of them appear to know, was..............red and white stripes!
Didn't we give them those shirts?

Not sure it's known really. Maybe one of the historians who pop in on here might know.

But it was very early days in football. There weren't many teams , so if you were going to borrow or be given shirts, they would probably be from the club nearest to you , which of course was us.

There was also a story which held that we had raised some money for one of teams which combined to make a Utd, to stop them folding.

I suppose it is possible the strips could have been part of that if it happened.

But in any event, they did wear those colours, and it's a mystery why they don't celebrate their heritage properly!

Wasn't that a friendly game against them to stop them from folding? They took all the gate receipts because at the time SAFC were very well followed (I mean as always I suppose), which meant they survived?
