This is ultimately a failure of government and I put the Tories firmly at the front and center of the blame here. The years of Tory government we had have left a massive gaping hole in our society.
When Cameron ran against Brown in 2010, one of the key debate points was immigration - that's 16 ****ing years ago, near the tail end of that Brown government, the immigration policy had changed to try and reduce numbers, when Cameron came in and was desperate to see GDP growth, he started letting more in and this exploded under Boris.
The Tories ran in 2010 on the premise that immigration was too high under Labour and they were the "law and order party" who will get it under control, they lied and lied and lied, they started Brexit and for them they ran on anti-immigration and that the EU was the problem, then they let even more in, then they came up with hair brained schemes to try and convince people they were "gonna fix the mess"
They did **** all but cause a huge increase in racism, hatred and division. The Tories shouldn't be elected again.
Then when I see the Makerfield debate on BBC, the host stated that under Labour we have seen a 40% reduction in migration, one of the highest in years - the Conservative candidate has the nerve to say "yes, but thats because of Tory policy"
She kindly reminded him he was bottom of the polls and to stfu.
