Think most would take a senior squad slot and therefore limit recruitment. I doubt we’ll want to keep any of the “ senior” loans when they return.

Depends on a lot of factors but I could definitely see the likes of Seelt or even Alan Brown (last year on contract, pitiful offers, Boro £100,000 etc) being kept around purely for squad numbers, some of the weaker teams in the Europa League are Championship standard at best so I'd expect heavy rotation for those kinds of games and these sorts of players will allow us to completely rest important players.

I think we've mentioned before that this will be a very interesting summer. I'm expecting us to move a dozen or so players out who aren't involved in the first team squad or out on loan. I'm expecting the loan for Geertruida not to be renewed and Cirkin and Luke to go. I'm expecting big bids to come in for a few of our players.....Ballard,Le Fee,Rigg,....and several players wanting game time...eg,Wilson,Mayenda...of which they may not get any guarantee, will be on the market. A fit Traore should get another year,I would think.
Incoming, always pending any first choice players being tempted away, and our first team squad remaining largely as is,I'm hoping for PL ready centre-back,left-back and striker.
We need to keep the likes of luke for the home grown quota for the europa league

I very much doubt we will be letting O9 go, unless he wants to leave of course. He is too important around the squad, in the same way they are keeping on Simon Moore. Plus has proved himself as a valuable squad player on more than one occasion, and is likely a low earner. We will probably sign some more young promising players so he's exactly the type of player they will need around.

Hoping we sign Geertruida but looking doubtful now.

The fact we are in Europe now will probably be enough to keep most of our best players.

This summer priorities IMO -

Young up and coming left back who can learn from Reinildo
A striker with a different profile to Brobbey, can we unearth a Kroupi?!
A right winger
Somebody to sit in midfield and learn off Granit
Agree with all of that but being greedy I’d ad Geertruida and a another left footed centre back f

I also wonder whether we might take a serious look at Hayden Hackney this summer.

Ticks a lot of the boxes for for what we need in terms of an understudy to Xhaka and widely expected to make a move to the PL this summer. Young and potentially has high resale value, which we obviously tend to prioritise. Would also help us to fill the homegrown quota which we need to be thinking of for Europe.

We have a couple of players in Browne and Patterson who may be of interest to them for next season. I wonder whether they might be considering Dan Neil already as cost effective like-for-like replacement for Hackney - feels like Ipswich might not retain him given he wasn't starting to often for them in the Championship.

Potential issue is obviously him being a Boro lad and whether the move would feel like a betrayal. Think the likes of Cattermole and Leadbitter have proved that doesn't have to be a huge issue, though.

Wissa can’t have a sell on value of more than £15/20 million and will be on big wages. That’s a shame because I’d be happy to take him on a season’s loan now we have more games to play. I’ve no idea how Newcastle made him look so bad tbh.

It’s not just the amount of games that’s important, in my opinion, it’s the duration …

… being able to play Brobbey, for an hour per game, might help him last the season better.

I'd take him for £15m like, he's obviously a talent just like Woltemade is but the Mags don't know how to use him and the supporters have already turned.

It was a huge fee for someone who’ll be 30 next season.

Newcastle have little option but to play him or take a massive hit.

He isn’t tainted enough for me to discount him as an ex-Mag.

Thinking of midfielders who can potentially fill in for Xhaka.. Andre at Wolves will 100% be moving on. Not sure he’d want to play back up though. Has to be a few players amongst the relegated clubs we’d be looking at. Win Bassaka a good option too, can play both sides pretty well.

He has already signed a new contract at Wolves just a couple of days ago.

I've heard Mane from Wolves mentioned as a player worth going for. AMF/CM I believe.

What do you think of him to boost our squad next year?
