Sounding more and more like Mayenda might be away this summer

❗️Understand Eliezer Mayenda is expected to leave Sunderland this summer.

After playing a key role in the club’s promotion campaign last season and contributing to its impressive PL return and historic EL qualification this season, the talent is attracting strong interest from several ambitious European clubs.

Big summer ahead for Mayenda

No surprise that we aren’t extending the deal. We’ve looked after him, he’s been here best part of 5 years and has barely played for us.

It’s a shame for the lad, looks as though he’s had some game time this season and I hope he can get a move and re-build his career fitness permitting.

Sadly it’s not going happen for him here and it’s a similar situation with Alese as well.

I thought that when he came out earlier than the rest of the team after the match on Sunday. I thought it looked like a goodbye rather than a celebration of qualifying for the Europa League

Yeah, had the same thought myself.

The lad will want to play and has a lot going for him.

Those playoff goals and the opening day header against West Ham will stay with me forever.

Not a fan of the Harvey Elliot signing as mentioned above. Think most PL clubs will be linked him though tbh.

Think he’s had a bit of a free ride playing in that Liverpool team. Imagine Le Fee having that kind of quality around him and being able to pissfart on the ball for as long as he wants? He’s had a few years to prove himself now and will likely come with a big price tag, plus he’s had a few bad injuries iirc.

Massive signing for me would be someone to fill in for Xhaka when he can’t play. Really missed that this season and with more games next season we need some experienced who would be happy playing back up. Don’t want to be shoehorning Sadiki in there and limiting him. Like a Pascal Gross kind of signing, although ironically he’s starting every week.

Lerma is out of contract this summer think he’d be a smart addition potentially for that role. Few half decent players in Saudi too, Brozovic and Kessie but both likely on mega money.

We'll need at least 4-5 players (probably more) just for rotation so I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the loanees return and stick around.
Think most would take a senior squad slot and therefore limit recruitment. I doubt we’ll want to keep any of the “ senior” loans when they return.

Agree. I think, of the dozen or so players we have out on loan, possibly only a couple will be retained,we'll be hopeful of moving the rest on permanent deals rather than renewing the loan. We've already signed Matty Young to a longer deal....maybe only Seelt?

Kondogbia was linked last week, might be getting released by Marseille to free up some funds for them. He'd be in that bracket.

Good player in his time, didn’t play much last season but not sure who they have in his position. If he’s fit and wages aren’t outlandish I could see us looking at him.
Still need to look at getting a new, younger player that Xhaka can mould into his eventual successor, unless we view Rigg as a long term candidate. He’d need to grow and fill out a bit to stand a chance but at his age that is likely to happen in any case.

Would be decent short term depth and i'm pretty sure he played with Reinildo at Atheltico Madrid.
