Poor from SAFC and it's not often I say that ...

The only branch organiser who has his own LNER line manager who'll delay trains so Sunderland supporters don't miss games ...

... yet the ticket office manager, who isn't a Sunderland supporter, can't even organise selling tickets to a captive audience.

But he can make sure international supporters, without points or even a Season Ticket, can attend SJP for the derby.

It absolutely stinks!

Totally agree.

There's got to be a middle ground somewhere for both parties - whatever they think he did wrong, they need to address that but also see what good is being done for other fans - assuming it's within the rules. The reallocation of tickets needs looking at. Feels like the club would rather a seat is empty than it gets passed on to someone who maybe didn't have the requisite number of loyalty points. That's not right

I've said that I think that there's more to this than were being told and yesterday at work one of the lads said something that makes sense. According to him it's personal between the ticket office manager and the lad effected. The ticket office manager is supposed to hate this lad personally (and some other branches) and has used this to get at him. I don't know if it's true or not but it makes sense about how draconian it's been. And if it's true I still think that there's more on top of that which has had innocent fans caught in the fallout.

I've heard another branch is being investigated for ticket misuse. Worrying times for branches.

The branches are shooting themselves in the foot.

Instead of responding to the sanctions imposed on this person they're turning a blind eye and keeping their head's down.

They should be putting out a joint statement to the club and the media.

Yes we all know branches will sometimes use their ticket allocations to fill the coach seats that keep the whole thing going.

Yes that's annoying when I can't buy an away ticket but, come on, the branches have managed to keep going through the bad times when the club couldn't give tickets away. If a branch organiser books a coach and a few people need 'help' with their points it's not the criminal offence the ticket office are making it out to be.

No branch organiser will risk helping to source 50 tickets in future. If he does that and just one is bought legally by someone who later finds they're unable to go he'll have a choice to make.

He can give that ticket to someone just short of adequate points thereby filling the seat ...

... or bin the ticket and seat because the club refuse to either take it back or allow it's use.

Under strict terms & conditions the club may be technically correct but is it really beyond them to exercise a modicum of common sense.

Come on Sunderland, endless stories like this, day after day ...

They sold my 88yo nanna, and mam's, before the 1st DD date last season Gave them seats apart, refused to move the people who had gotten their seats that they'd had since ground opening. New ST holders for old seats never showed all season. This season still wont give them back.

Another complaint about the ticket office

This is all escalating to a ridiculous degree and much of it is unnecessary.

The ticket office manager clearly has a problem with the branches and one 'branch secretary' in particular.

That may be justified, to some small degree, but the way it's been handled is a disgrace as many have said. The way sixty people, with valid derby tickets, were punished was obviously meant as a warning and publicised to that effect. I doubt anyone but the ticket office manager believes it couldn't have been handled better.

The result is that there are threads everywhere about this, the Sunderland Echo has run a story, branches are worried about whether they'll be targeted next, etc.

Now I've been told a national newspaper is talking to various people involved and will be running a story. A club sponsor has informed the club they'll withdraw their support if this branch organiser's 3 year ban isn't rescinded and other people are offering to pay the legal costs if it goes to court. Believe me the SAFC ticket office, in various guises, has lots it would prefer didn't become public knowledge.

This could all be sorted in minutes but, despite the outcry, it seems the ticket office refuse to reply to anyone and are digging their heels in. It's creating an 'us against them' atmosphere and the complete opposite of what Tom Burwell so eloquently recently posted. It's awful to see this continue to develop at a time we should all be basking in the glow coming from the club.

Fell free to post any of this anywhere you choose.

The upshot for many is that the ability to re-house last minute spares simply dies - I`ve got my ticket for Wolves away - there is a 50/50 chance that work will "get in the way" (I`ve got a trial starting on the following Monday and a mediation to try and settle the case on the Friday - if we settle I can go, if we don`t I`ll be working all weekend to get the final bits sorted for the Monday - I can hear the violins already!).

As "one of the 65" I don`t want to fall foul of the ticket office...

So I emailed them and set out the above...the reply being that if I can let them know on Thursday then the club can resell it - when I reminded them that I won`t know until Friday (probably late on) - the reply was "I can do my best to sell the ticket but I really can`t guarantee".

The thing is, I could previously guarantee it by asking the lad with the ban to re-house it...I wouldn`t want paying anything for the ticket - I`d simply ask whoever got it to chuck a few quid into a charity of his/her choosing...the outcome is that there is going to be a spare seat if I can`t go...

I also don`t trust the ticket office not to give it to a "pal" of someone within the ticket office...
