Poor old Tiger has lost his way.

He - or somebody else, probably an innocent bystander - will lose their life if he cannot be looked after.

Temper temper...

Another display of this modern pathological fear of losing, and being seen as a 'loser'.
In any walk of life, but in sport in particular, you cannot have a winner without a loser.
But many these days (a certain President included) believe strongly that unless you win you are nothing.
Believe it so strongly that they have a phobia of losing, and deny to themselves that they have ever lost at anything.

This of course strips them of the natural caution that 99.999% of the rest of us feel when competing in anything.
The acknowledgment that defeat (or losing) is always a possibility, and the maturity to cope with it and learn from it, should it happen.
Indeed, the delusion that a person cannot fail makes them reckless and causes nothing but harm.

In short - grow up Medvedev, you big Wuss <doh>

McIlroy's finish to round 2 in The Masters, 6 birdies in the last 7 holes defies belief. Those holes are so difficult for even a decent club player. Still a lot of golf to play, but he used to be a great front runner, lets hope he still is.

He is now free of the fear that he might never win that green jacket.

I think he will have it won this year with a round to spare.

Just goes to show what I know about golf <laugh>
You could fit it into an egg cup, without taking the egg out <doh>

There's an old saying Golf is a humbling game, and it applies to everyone who has ever played, except possibly Trump, who simply cheats his way out of trouble. The other old saying Never trust a man who cheats at golf is also applicable.

I heard once that North Korean Jong-Un's dad once got 11 holes in one in a single round <laugh>
Still, we're straying off-topic a bit.

Trump in the Politics thread, boats in the Migrant thread :police: And we'll all live happily ever after <hug>

Looks like the Saudis are preparing to pull the plug on LIV Golf

After their incorrect assumption that the majority of the World's best Golfers could simply be bought.
Some clearly could.
And though I think that is shameful, they were being offered astronomical amounts of :emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash:
If LIV collapses, there will be a lot of embarrassed back-pedalling, and bad feeling for years to come.

I hear too that the obscene amounts being offered to footballers to join the Saudi Pro-League are also being scaled back.

Chalk up another excuse for players who lose at the Crucible...

First you can't have a ***.
Then you can't have a drink.
Now you can't use 'that' chalk.

Next they'll be saying you can't fart when your opponent is about to take his shot.

The Kenyan who won the marathon in under 2 hours goes home to a hero's welcome. The poor bastard who finished second was also under 2 hours but no hero's welcome. Even the 3rd finisher broke the old record but was over 2 hours so he's a nobody.

AAron Rai, the golfer from Wolverhampton who has just won the American PGA tournament, doesn't have an agent, and doesn't intend to get one, preferring to manage his own affairs. Why does that cheer me up?

The Enhanced Games are to start soon, with the drug-propelled athletes trying to gain the moral high ground by saying "At least we're being honest" :emoticon-0131-angel. It's a deliberate slur on honest athletes.

I hope the media coverage is minimal, especially on dedicated Sports channels.
And if any British 'athletes' win any medals, I hope they get booed on their return to the UK - if anyone pays any attention at all.
They're all losers.

Never seen it live (like about 99.999% of us I expect). Watched it a few times on TV, edited highlights.

I gather there is a lot of ceremony and ritual involved. How often do the actual bouts take place?
