Rory McIlroy must be in turmoil after missing 2 short putts to win the US Open. It will either finish him as a major contender or inspire him to win that elusive Masters title

Another Tony Jacklin.

Embarrassing comment <doh>

Speaking as someone who bets on golf most weeks…including PGA and USPGA Tour events, comparing Rory to Tony Jacklin is like comparing Sir Geoff Hurst to Chuks Aneke.

Good player that Jacklin was in his era, Rory is playing a totally different game to him.

Rory is an unbelievable iron player, but his weakness has always been his putting. We saw that in spades on the back nine on Sunday.

The rest of his game is as good as ever. THose two short putts that he missed at the end- that's what pressure can do. I don't think the rest of us can know what that sort of pressure is like.
Jacklin was a great player for a short time, no question, but blotted his copybook later on by his constant digs at Ryder Cup Captains, particularly Bernard Gallagher. The fact that Jacklin was such a successful captain himself made it worse IMO.

I'm referring to missing short putts<doh>

The Olympics start tomorrow and you would barely know. What has happened to the greatest show on earth?

I think we're all 'sported out'.

Euro2024
Wimbledon
Wall-to-wall cricket on pay TV
Formula 1 :emoticon-0113-sleep

The Olympics has lost its magic too.
Football, golf and tennis don't feel like they belong at the Olympics in my view.
Track & Field, swimming & combat sports - fair enough.
And cycling I suppose, though I find that pretty dull myself.

I was brought up in the Ovett era, then the country had interest.
Now it seems that football has killed other sports and overshadowed everything.

If you're going to beat your horse with a whip, don't do it on video Charlotte <doh>
That kind of thing went out of fashion with Lester Piggott.

Makers me wonder what else goes on out of the public's view in the world of Equestrian sports.

It was the golden era not just Ovett Coe Cram Elliot Wells Whitbread Thompson Sanderson Christie et al. Sky killed athletics with its blanket coverage of football and the BBC never had the balls to promote other sports after the London Olympics.

I cannot even name anyone representing GB at theses games

The team are now set targets for the number of medals they have to win. That's just silly.

I’m really enjoying these Olympics. The opening ceremony was a disaster but that’s the French typically not having a plan B.

We have been constantly robbed in the boxing.
