I’m catching up on this thread in the beautiful setting of the Lake District. Been looking forward to this weekend all by myself for weeks but since @Smug in Boots sorted me with a ticket, I now can’t wait to get back for the match!! What a great position we find ourselves in! Well and truly safe and players returning from injury and the achievable prospect of European football next season. Even if we miss out on Europe it’s still been an amazing season. I fully intend to let my hair down on Sunday (not that I’ve got any!) and have a great day. Not in work on Monday so I fully intend to make a day of it!

something with that doesnt feel right

some say that someone rang/text into the radio show to say that they heard this rumour
others saying Nick Barnes was told this by a source at the club
or that Nick Barnes got texted this

what I get from this, Nick Barnes is a fossil and shouldnt be doing safc stuff anymore
Hes never been any good, shocking attitude and hopeless commentator . Benno not much better either, two dim wits on a well named radio station..

Brilliant that mate, have a cracking day.

Smug, well played sir (doffs cap emoji)

Like Miserable/negative/given up/arsehole Moyse, he's making excuses before a ball is even kicked !

He probably didn't say this at the interview (he actually did, though) . . . .

Tottenham manager Roberto de Zerbi says that he is "not better" than predecessors Thomas Frank or Igor Tudor as he prepares to take charge of his first game with the Premier League strugglers :emoticon-0136-giggl

Looking forward to meeting up with you mate.

I'm currently working on the Wolves and Forest games but, iirc, your ticket may have come via @Gordon Armstrong.

There's a fair few meeting up at the Museum so we can all just rush the gates like we used to <laugh>

RLB ON REST OF SEASON

RLB doesn't want the standard to slip at Sunderland, even though survival is now pretty much guaranteed. He's also made some comments on the win over Newcastle United and on Tottenham Hotspur having a new manager.

HARDER GAME WITH NEW MANAGER?
“It’s complex, the performance in football is very complex and it’s often a question of confidence, belief and, obviously, quality on the pitch but the psychology side is very important. Probably, the most important thing at the moment is to implement this belief, this confidence, that we can succeed. We had this period, here in Sunderland, when it was tough. Resilience, relationships with the players as well, are really important in those moments.”

PRESSURE OFF?
“I think we still want to win and the pressure is more internal. You want to win again, for example at home because we struggled a bit in the last sequence, so it’s important to win. It’s about our standards. The main goal of the season is probably achieved now and it wasn’t easy and sometimes you can forget because it’s always about the next games and the last performance, I would say. It was really hard and we struggled at times but we showed great quality and strong togetherness, I repeat. Now, we want to keep the same standard because we want to grow and it’s not the end of the season.”

DERBY WIN
“It was a massive win. I think a season is never linear, first of all, and a season is defined as well by key moments. I do think that two derbies, at home and away, and the win at Leeds were those key moments. Especially with many injuries, for the last two games, and the team showed character and resilience when it was important. Probably those two derbies are a good symbol of the season.”
