I think a lot of this type of behaviour would stop if the social media platforms insisted that you had to use your real name as your user name and provide proof of identity prior to being able to create an account.

People love hiding behind persona's but are a lot more reserved when they have to put their name to it
‘If you wouldn’t say it in real life, don’t say it online’ is a pretty simple mantra.

Bet Romaine would chin the twat.

What do people make of this tourettes incident at the BAFTAs? A man with tourettes who was backstage (I believe he was in an award winning documentary about the condition) involuntarily shouted the N word at black individuals as they were making an acceptance speech. This has caused a debate online about if he was intentional in shouting the slur despite his condition.

The original Tourette’s I swear I can’t help it documentary is one of my favourites. It’s absolutely golden. The guy is really genuine.

It’s obviously a massive shame what’s happened and now he will be crucified. The BBC need to hold their hands up for not censoring it, it wasn’t aired live there was a 2 hour delay apparently so they really need to be held accountable for allowing it to be shown to billions of people around the world.

The victim mentality all over instagram since is hilarious though. People talking about their “ancestors” slavery from 500 years before they were even a swimmer in their dad’s bollocks. The same people who call themselves the very same word they deem such an offensive slur, I’ll never understand it. Why are we as a population in 2026 being tarnished for the acts of people ancestors from 500 years ago? Africans, Europeans, Asians.. they were all involved in slavery.

Maybe I just don’t have total **** for brains but I wouldn’t call myself and my peers a word that I wouldn’t want other people calling me based on the colour of my skin. It’s the one thing about racism that I genuinely find bizarre and because we have to pussyfoot around it due to fear of being labelled racist it’s just allowed. Jamie Foxx has jumped on the bandwagon to make himself a victim, yet he says the N word rapping and acting constantly. I don’t get it.

Can you imagine people of Pakistani decent calling each other “P*ki” but being deeply offended by anyone else saying it? Of course not. Or Chinese people calling each other “ch*nky”? Nope. But we’ll call each other n*gga and then if anyone of any other colour dares to say the word we’ll have a throwback to how disadvantaged we are in another lifetime because I read stories about how someone of the same colour skin as me was treat. Knock it off.

The word should be treat as a racist jibe full stop when it’s used by anyone. As is any other hate speech.

That does confuse me that situation when blacks call each other that degrading and abusive word

That's an argument I have. People keep going on about how we should have diversity in the world but it's racist for me to say that word but if a black rapper says it it's ok - doesn't that go against what being put out there?

Hmmm, it’s a slippery slope and black rappers, etc, have taken advantage of the situation in my opinion.

As black people can be anywhere from jet black to Michael Jackson it poses an interesting question …

… is there a ‘Dulux chart’ to check if you qualify?

There was a barbecue every day around the pool area at our hotel, as mentioned on the 'weather' thread, where they'd make jerk chicken & burgers, and one day, whilst waiting in the queue, a staff member dropped something and we were all shocked when one of them said "Which ****** did that ?"
We all looked at each other, wondering, and he said "Well . . . . who was it ?" and they all laughed.
No wonder some are confused :emoticon-0112-wonde

Hypothetically if you said that would everyone have laughed?

Maybe it’s just me, I just don’t understand someone being so emotional over words on a screen from a blatant troll account.

It's weird how minds can work. You get fixated on the negatives and ignore the positives.

I could spend all day on RTG having pleasant conversation with people. Then someone would pop up and make a bitchy comment. I'd get fixated on the bitchy comment and spiral down.

Logically it's one sad person out of many nice people I've spoken to, but my brain just doesn't compute that fact sometimes and it goes into "I'm **** and useless" mode instead.

I've had CBT and stuff, and I have to try really hard to stop it happening now. Just over the weekend two people were being dicks about my RAWA work on there and I nearly spiralled but managed to sort myself out by just not going on there.

It's not just "words on a screen" when it's a personal attack on you and the bullies know that.

I've seen other programmes about Tourette's. They were in an airport and he was that fixated on not shouting anything inappropriate, he ended up blurting out something like there's a bomb in my bag!

I would like to think that's what happened to the man at the BAFTA's. He would have been that fixated on not saying anything bad, and it ended up coming out.

That's right, I know a few teachers and I've a couple of friends who are social workers and they all say that cyber bullying is insideous. Not just the personal attacks but it's relentlessness, the whole nature of it means there's no escape from it. You can be at home and another attack will come, or the middle of the night, happy moments with friends or family destroyed when another horrible message arrives, first thing in the morning when you wake up. People have been driven to suicide by it. Once the bullies can wear a person down, find a weak spot or even create a crack in someone's personality they'll press on and on, to them it's just a game and they don't care about the consequences. In fact, if they break someone it's a result. And it's worse if there's no personal connection between the people involved, because it's natural for the victim to go "why me?".

Just seen that its Jamie Foxx reckoning he said it on purpose!

Load of bollocks! Its quite obvious that the condition makes you think oh **** whats the worst thing I really must not say right now and then shout it because ya thinking about it!

Sadly I’ve been on these football chat forums long enough to have recognised the patterns that repeat and the techniques the weirdos use. This forum escapes the worst of it but RTG has some seriously entrenched ‘personalities’ who are a sociologist’s paradise. University professors could use the place to demonstrate instances of pathological disorders.

As I’ve said I’ve learned to recognise how some pathetic people appear as ‘new posters’ and and attempt to appear benign at first then, after a few weeks, gradually start to post the bile they came for in the first place. Much to the surprise and probably annoyance of the majority of decent posters I gently, but quickly, let the trolls know I’ve already sussed them.

I get the inevitable faux outrage from them and the indignant defence of them by their little pals who knew they were coming on for a bit of mischief. I then get the accusations that I’m ‘chasing these lovely new posters’ off the forum and being a horrible bully, but before they vanish they just can’t resist lashing out and posting the hatred they came on for in the first place.

Fortunately I get very little flak these days, as most people recognise that I only pull people up because I’ve already sussed them and know what they’re up to. It helps that I don’t care about what they say, but I can see what effect they have on other, decent posters. It must be difficult if you have a gentle nature, to be attacked by these trolls who are often in hateful little cliques who automatically, and relentlessly, spring to their defence.

I’m sure they have their own issues that makes them behave like that, and perhaps I should sympathise with their personality disorders …

… but I really can’t be arsed tbh.

Perhaps that makes me as bad and intolerant of their plight, but that’s tough, I’m not perfect either.

There was a brilliant series on a few years back where they went on dates and that. Was one lad he controlled it all the way through and just as she was getting in taxi at end of date he burst out ‘she’s a squirter’ <laugh>

One of the funniest things I’ve ever seen, but a happy ending they are married now I believe.

I’ve been accused of having Tourette’s but I just believe a swear enhances a point, it’s a mad condition, it really is.

This is exactly how it works, as soon as he saw black people hit the stage he was likely thinking to himself, "don't say it, don't say it", if the person on stage was disabled or anything else, the circumstances would very likely have been the same, immediately thinking about the most offensive word for that particular person.

There’s a Tourette’s barber who had a little lad getting his hair cut who also had Tourette’s and the little lad just talks normally and shyly but it’s broken by involuntary swearing and slogans.
It’s fascinating and funny in parts but if you are a shy type it would make life hell !
